Reg, I’m not sure what you mean by rushing methods, but here’s what I’ve been doing. I’m the offense coach so I set up the offense as I would playing against anyone else. Then I roll dice and use a chart to determine what defense to set up. Then I make my offense adjustments and go with it. I run all kinds of running plays. Most often is a standard pro-set with 2 backs on either side of the QB. Other times I run an offset pro, with both running backs on the same side, either right or left of the QB. Another favorite is with 1 back directly behind the QB and the other up near the line between the guard and tackle on either side. Then there is the ‘I’ formation and offset ‘I’, draw plays, reverses and sometimes a 3 back package. I try to mix things up, depending on the team. The Sasquatch work best with a standard power running game, the Ra use lots of miss directions plays, Bozos like off tackle plays, etc. Now, I play without a bunch of stops, so if a guy breaks open he’s usually gone, which would explain some of the higher yards per carry averages. To me, multiple stops breaks up the flow of the play. Besides, I want the little guys to make the plays themselves, not because I kept turning him to make them. It’s those ’magic moments’ that I look forward to. thmbsp$ ppls$

As for passing, I’m using sticks, but probably different than the way most guys use them. For instance, only the intended receiver on offense can catch the ball, but any defender can. Because of that, I allow the offense to block the defenders from the ball, but the defense can not block the intended receiver from catching it. Also, if a defender accidentally bumps the intended receiver before they reach the stick, it’s ok, since I already roll dice shkthbx: for penalties after every play. Occasionally the defense will get a pass interference flag even without bumping into him, so it works out. The funny thing is, the Werewolves seem to run faster on defense than on offense. I’ll throw a pass to one player, and he’ll get beat to the stick for an interception. Yet, when that same player is on defense, he’ll run faster than all get out and intercept the ball. I can’t quite figure that one out. :dohdh:

sounds like

you have faster bases on the d,than the wideouts.

RavennaAl 10-01-2010 04:48 PM

Phil, the Werewolves play iron man. Just 11 guys on the team. The ends and defensive backs are the same guys, same bases. I guess they like chasing balls better than catching them. :dohdh:

You gave me the info...

I needed on the rushing method. You do it kinda like I do on the rushing. I either go that route or use the playbook, depending on how I feel that day. Now I see why your runners have big averages. You explained that pretty well.

Just curious as to how others play the game. It's funny because we all get so much enjoyment out of this stuff. Amazing how you know the personalities of each team, what works and what does not.

Go Sasquatchezzzzzzzzzz!!!

Thanks Reg, now, here's the playoff picture:

With 2 games remaining, nobody has secured a playoff spot yet. Here’s the scenarios for each team:

North Division

Sasquatch - They only need to win 1 of their remaining games to clinch a playoff spot. Winning both games would give them the division title.

Third Reich - They only need to win 1 of their remaining games to clinch a playoff spot. Winning both games combined with a Bozo loss in either of their remaining games would give them the division title (The Sasquatch and Reich play each other in the final week)

Bozos - If the Bozos win this week, they will clinch a playoff spot. (The Bozos and Killer Bees play each other this week) If they lose and win the following week, then they will either need the Third Reich or the Killer Bees to lose one of their remaining games, or for the Sasquatch to lose both of their games to clinch a playoff spot. If the Bozos win both of their remaining games and the Sasquatch loses 1 of their remaining games, they will clinch the division title.

Killer Bees - They need to win both of their remaining games and have the Sasquatch lose both of their games, or the Third Reich lose both of their games, or have the Bozos lose both of their games, or have the Sasquatch win both of their games and finish in a three way tie with the Third Reich and Bozos and have a higher point differential to clinch a playoff spot. They can not win the division title.

Un-North Division

Egypt Ra - If they win both of their remaining games they will win the division title. If they lose this week (they play the Fairies) and win next week, they will need the Mennonites to lose this week’s game and for the Mennonites to beat the Fairies in week 9 to win the division

Fairies - If the Fairies win both of their remaining games they will win their division.

Mennonites - They need to win both of their remaining games and have the Ra lose 1 of their remaining games to clinch the division title.

The Werewolves, Toxic Waste and Zombies are out of the playoff hunt.

I'd like to try some of that green stuff myself. I used Milliput, a 2 part putty that I think is a little stiffer to use that the green stuff is. If I ever find any of it I'll be sure to let you know! thmbsp$

I gave you some clues here :

it's easy to find, really. It was really harder to find in the 90's.

For me, green stuff is the best putty I found for conversions and customizing. And believe me, I tried almost all the sculpting putties on the market.

You just need the right tools and some vaseline. (if you don't have something to say about the last statement, AL, I'll be very surprised :D ).

THe only other putty I use is called "fimo", it's a putty...you cook in hoven ! really great for master sculpting, but not useable for customizing.

Dimitri, thanks for sharing the info. I always look forward to what you are making next. thmbsp$ ppls$

Now, for this weeks games....

Flaming Fairies at Ra - The Fairies control their own fate. Win both of their remaining games, and they win the division. Same hold true of the Ra. Tommy Cruise is #3 in the league in passing, but will he have any time to throw? Khafra and Nectanebo are tied for the league lead in sacks with 5 apiece. The Fairies have the edge when playing under pressure, but Egypt has the better balanced team. Ra by 3 points

Zombies at Mennonites - Both teams are coming off of tough losses. The Mennonites still have a chance of making the playoffs. The Zombies are playing for pride. Speedy was held to minus yards rushing against the Sasquatch. Bart Star and Dan Fouts were horrible against the Bozos. Look for all 3 to rebound in a wild shootout. Men in black come out on top, barely, by 1 point.

Sasquatch at Toxic Waste - The Toxic Waste have lost several tough games this year, but don’t count them out. They are capable of beating anyone. The Sasquatch only have to remember last year when their unbeaten streak came to an end at the hands of the Waste. They won’t be surprised again. Sasquatch continue their march to the playoffs by 7 points

Third Reich at Werewolves - The Wolf run defense is second to none. The Reich have the leagues #1 QB in Wilhelm Klink, and the top 2 receivers in Richard Meier and Willie Wolf . Bad news for a lumbering Wolf secondary. Look for the dog men to control the ground while the Reich takes to the air. Munich locks up a playoff spot with a 6 point victory.

Bozos
at Killer Bees. I’m picking this as the best game of the week, perhaps of the entire season. Both teams are fighting for their playoff lives. On paper it looks like a mismatch in the clowns favor, but the Bees have been playing the best football of all the teams the last 3 weeks. Look for a low scoring affair. Bernie wins it for Battle Creek with a last second field goal. Bozos by 1
