Where I do go thru more bases is at the "Skill" positions..I.E QB's, RB's LB's WR's and kickoff teams.

It's amazing to see this coach tweak and build a team. I've seen it first hand.

BUMP

BASES!

Reginald Rutledge 10-20-2009 06:00 PM

For me, this is really about something I always speak about

The base + player = Athlete

Now for me, I could not take one without the other. It is a combination thing. The only reason I would weigh slightly toward the figure is because of promotions of the game and because I believe in art.

What turns me on about the game is realism. Making things look real and do things that seem real. For me, it's about the show.

I probably have more bases than most people and I have tried to set bases up on a mantle and walk into a room and get a certain rush. For me, it does not happen.

On the other hand, when I walk into the room and see figures on the wall customized in different uniforms and things of that nature, there is a glee that is indescribeable! I just know looking good is very important to me.

Now, it may also have to do with if you are in a league or play alone. There is something to be said for "competition bases" versus "show bases". Definitely, in competition, it is important to come with your best bases. Everybody wants to win.

But for me, I am out of the competition game and "show bases" just is enough for what I need to do. So the emphasis is now that a player does not have to be able to run 100 yards but 50 would be just fine. Too much time wasted on trying to find the pot of gold when silver will suffice.

So I guess for me, if I was nailed down, the player would be more important to me.

This is a hard one for me

But if I had to pick, I gotta go with bases.

ooooo

I am more of a player guy I guess... I get enough bases to cover the number of players i get (i do end up with a few "Injury bases" to use if some one gets 'banged up').

that being said I am definitely not a competitive player. I would imagine that coaches wanting to be great will stress bases more.

The combo..."Dre Day" I say it is a marriage of the 2...

I have players that I purchased year 1 and I cherish them even moreso now. I keep the combo togther and there is nothing better than putting a player on any bodies field or surface and having a minimal standard deviation from the norm:D MINImal!!!!..simplisticly speaking consistancy. I have learned to do figs and tweak...as I was told early in the game "when you tweak a base and it becomes an athlete doing what you designed it to do....there is no feeling like it" and yes I have one with over 1200+ in 2 seasons and the fig is as vital to the base as the base is to the figthmbsp$

i can say I have ordered bases many a day over the years but I have also added extra figs to the squad as needed. It took time for me to notice which fig is best for the task.......so for me Brother Dre....it is a mutual-marriagefrstplc

I can see where they both can be utilized. But when you see bases that can do at least that, DO YOU SAY THAT'S IT, YOUR ON THE TEAM. OR DO YOU DIG AND DIG TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING BETTER.
Is it worth it trying to find a base that can take it to the house as opposed to going 75 yards. lets face, all you have to do is be on your own 25 yard line and that base that goes 75 yards is your house taker.
I also think a great coach can take a mediocre tweaked base set and turn that team into something special.

***SO ARE YOU SAYING, YOU CAN GO THROUGH A MAJORITY OF THE 480 BASES TO BUILD 1 TEAM ? IF SO, MAN THATS WORK !!!!!

MANTARAYDRE

I would take the bases..... I know that when I am building a team, it usually beginss in the late spring forthe upcoming season. It can start out with 50-60 players for the team in figures. I may not dress them all, but you can see 50 bases to start with. Now mind you, that is for just one uniform of the team in question.

Okay, when teaking for competitive play, you want players that can run and be tough in the trenches, fly to the ball, and run to the house or execute your schemes. Well the only way to find all this talent is to go thru those 480 bases to find the best players to give you a chance to win.

You may need some of the 30 yd types as well as the 75+ types on your team. you may even have some 15 yd guys too. They may not play every down, but they will make an impact when they do.

I may go thru 100 to 150 bases to put together my team. The difference being is that every base tweaked that does not make my team is still good enough to make someone else's team. I have given away fanchise players to so many cooaches I have lost count. some have come back to score points on me, others have used my "coached-up players" to win titles so I know this to be true.

Dre, if you want to make your team do the things you want, you will need to "coach them up" by making each player special and as a unit, the team will be special.

GETTING INTERESTING POINTS OF VIEWS

COACHES,

Detriotchild was right, there are going to be varied anwsers on this one. it is the wide spread number that is so shocking. Imagine in a game a team won

REDSKINS 480

COWBOYS 20

***480 BASES TO 20 CUSTOM FIGS. THAT NUMBER IS SO WIDE SPREAD YOU JUST WONDER ARE YOU MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE.
***I totally agree is it a marriage made in heaven for both.
I happen to lie also the miggle NEW PROLINE figures. (THE SECOND SET WITHOUT THE QB). I see they are $6 for 5 figures. I like those poses because they have the customized look to them outtside of the fab five.
I think i will focus on getting more bases, put the extra money towards getting THE DWAYNE JENNINGS MINI MACS and FF.NET FIGURES. Then get the miggle proline figures to blend in with the two mainstay's just mentioned. I'll be honest, i hate cutting and gluing stuff together. DONT LIKE CUSTOMIZING. But with the jennings mini macs, you get to put the figures together via a kit from the start. I always loved the ff.net figures from day one (reg will attest to that). I dont like doing anything to them. THE STOCK FIGURES ARE IN A PROFESSIONAL LOOKING POSE RIGHT OUT OF THE BAG.

I personally think those feeling there way through in creating a look cant go wrong mixing and matching FF.NET FIGURES AND DEWAYNE JENNINGS MINI MACS. JUST FIGURE THAT OUT THEN GET YOUR 480. painted up right and detailed to the max, YOU WILL HAVE A NASTY LOOKING TEAM.

YOU GOTTA GET THE 480, IT'S THEE AMERICAN WAY !!!!!!!!

Without question, bases. Take a figure off a base and put it on the board. How good is he?
