The Proline strong rookie base is a great all around base. It can get monster strength....and can also be tweaked for good speed. I still prefer the Buzzball speed diamond bases for speed....as well as their ancestor, the old Tudor? R/L bases. That said, the Proline strong rookie base is a must for bigger figures that you want to have some speed...simply because the base is well-designed for stability and work well with heavy and top-heavy figures. However, for the absolute best receivers, it seems to me that boat bases or hybrid bases (combining a boat shell with a speed diamond underneath....or using its prongs) are the answer.

offense :

Offensive linemen : PROLINE TTC STRONG/ROOKIE STRONG square front

Wide receivers : PROLINE FAST ROOKIE round front

tight end : PROLINE TTC STRONG/ROOKIE STRONG round front

Quarterback : PROLINE TTC STRONG square front (or rookie "prong less" stationnary)

full back : PROLINE ROOKIE STRONG square front

half back : PROLINE ROOKIE STRONG round front




defense :

line men (DE-DT) : PROLINE TTC STRONG/ROOKIE STRONG round front

corner backs : PROLINE ROOKIE STRONG square front

middle linebacker : PROLINE ROOKIE STRONG round front

outside linebackers : PROLINE ROOKIE STRONG round front

strong safety : PROLINE TTC STRONG square front

free safety : PROLINE TTC STRONG square front




What do you think of it ?

WHen I write 2 choices, it's for tweaking you have to understand choice 1 = the hard way choice 2 the easy way. In one word, I'll buy a lot of strong rookie proline bases.

I've got doubts about the choices for defense line : Round front can help for blitz, but if the oppenent offense is strong, it can be a problem too...


Last thing, the speed bases for receivers : Since I'm using FF.net re-sculpted figures, I'm afraid perhaps fast bases will be too "weak" to suport the weight and bring them speed ?

Suggestion...
 

...use the square/straight front bases for your corner backs. That helps to hold the WR at the line of scrimmage a split second longer.

I think you've got the right idea. thmbsp$

One thing, I think that if you can maybe you should try making two tight ends, as then you have a blocking tight end like Jim Kleinsasser (I think that is how you spell it) on a flat front base, and a tight end that is more of a possession "receiver" like Anthony Gonzalez on a round base.

I'll stay with a unique TE, I don't need so much blocking people, in the games I played my line is very strong (never been sacked, but I sacked my bro 3times if I remember correctly :D )

1- yes, our current teams are quite the same : I tweaked everything twice, than make fair distribution between the 2 teams ;)

2-as good as mine !

3-on the esthetic aspect, yes. On the tecnical aspect, I'm not sure.

I've got a plan for that : As soon as my "pro" 4.0 team will be completed (figs and bases), I'll make a game against his current "demo" team (fab5 + regular bases), and smash it, I hope. The goal is not to humiliate my bro, but make him interesting in the tweaking aspect and team preparation. The good old "stick and carrot" technic (I don't know if you know that expression in english). :rtfl:

Since I know my bro, I know he will want to upgrade his team to be competitive. So I'll give him spare bases to tweak on his own, helping him with my humble skills. I think it's a better way to involve him in the hobby than simply give him a "ready to play" team.


We can see the limit of the "ready to play" concept : even if our teams are balanced for now, I'm confortable with my own team (making sacks etc...) because I tweaked it and I know each fig on the field. Even if the games stills competitive because he observed how his team works, he doesn't have that advantage.



4- I'll adapt my own team ! If he becomes enough good and involved to force me to adapt, I'll be the happiest MF player thmbsp$
