I don't believe you can punt the ball though. Place kick or drop kick only.

I know of it only because it's something the Stupid Azz Vikings in 1998 should've done against the Falcons.
Usually at the end of a game the kicking team will "squid" kick the kickoff to take up time. If the receiving team can get in front of it and signal a fair catch, then they can get an unattested free kick.
I think this is how it works???
Please, someone verify this.
