Injury Report for Raymond Bulldogs and Merced Bears

Here is the latest injury report for the Raymond Bulldogs. Coach Doug Hendricks reports that all 22 of the players on the traveling squad will be making the road trip to Kansas. They will leave California early Friday morning from San Jose and fly to Wichita. There they will travel by rental car to the official Mid America Melee hotel arriving about 6:30 local time. Following last weeks game against Merced there were a few bruises and sore spots, but no serious injuries. Running back Merle Hendricks will be at full speed as he has fully recovered from twisting his ankle in the third quarter of that game. He has been practicing all week and is ready to go. That is good news for the Bulldogs as Hendricks is the main running back for the Bulldogs and was not at full strenth in last weeks game against Merced, although he did play and score a touchdown.

The team is excited about the tournament and can't wait for the games to begin. Coach Hendricks says that he is really excited too. This will be my chance to learn about what high level competion is about. I will get to see experienced coaches who know what the game is all about. We will try to be competitive, and if we are not, we will learn how to correct that and do what we need to get better. It is a marvelous opportunity for our team.

Coach Tyler Davis told me on the phone last night that his team is also ready. He said that he learned so much from our game last week. He has been having 2 a day practices so he can become more familiar with his players now that he has played a game. Tyle was over at Grandpa's house this weekend and brought his team. He asked to scrimmage me and we set up with his team on the 20. He marched down the field and scored in 5 plays. Much different than in the game last week. Tyler practiced, and found out who his strong players were. His line was totally different than the one in last weeks game and their play was much improved. He had the right players in the right positions and it made a difference.

I interviewed Tyler and here it is:

"Tyler, your team was much, much better in tonights short scrimmage, why?"
T: "Well, when we played last week we got killed. Your offensive and defensive lines pushed us all over the field. I decided that I had to find out if I had some better linemen, and I did."
GP: "How did you do that?"
T: "I lined them up head to head, every player, and let them fight it out. Went through the whole team. When I had the strongest player, I took him out, and did it again."
GP: "Sounds like a long process. A lot of work."
T: "Yes it was, but it was worth it. I discovered that I didn't even play 3 of my best linemen. But when I did the one on one drills, I found out who could play."
GP: "Are you ready to go to Kansas and play?"
T: "You bet."
GP: "What do you think will be the best part of the trip?"
T: "I already know the answer Grandpa, it's getting to skip out on a day of school. I told my teachers I was going to Kansas with my Grandpa and that we were going to play football."
GP: "I bet they were impressed with that, grin."
T: "They told me to have fun."
GP: "One final question. Is your team healthy?"
T: "Yes everyone is ready to go. No excuses. We will be there in full force and we will be ready to play our best. I hope to learn a lot from the guys there."
GP: "Tyler, thanks for doing the interview. It will be on the MFCA network later."
T: "You're welcome Grandpa, and I hope I get to play you again in the tournament as I can beat you now!"

We hope to see all of you in Lyons Friday night and Saturday. Doug

The Las Vegas Odds Makers have made Weird Wolf a big favorite to win the first annual G-Force Mid America Melee Football Tournament being held this weekend in Lyons, Kansas. Wolf is listed on the board at 2 - 1, with Geno Hendricks coming in at 4 - 1, Flynt Hendricks 6 -1, and everyone else at 10 to one or more.

Wolf will be bringing a big following with him, and he will be the one with a target on his back the whole weekend. Don't forget the fun starts on Saturday, and we will try to post scores as the day goes on depending on internet connections. The ESPN-MF Network will have a reporter covering the event for Tweak Magazine and the MFCA Forum. Doug

What have you been smokin?? Now Geno is really gonna be coming at me. I haven't been ranked as Number 1 in anything except for my ability to stay standing near the end of an Octoberfest Festival! $br#

ki6ds 04-14-2010 01:32 PM

Well all I know is what the boys from Vegas tell me. They said that they had an inside source and that it was true. You know the boys in Vegas always get it right, otherwise there wouldn't be all those bright lights and eye candy there.

I talked with Geno, and he agrees that you are the favorite. Says he thinks you may go through it undefeated and unscored upon. Can't wait to meet all the guys and wish that more would come. Maybe a couple of guys will decide to come at the last minute and surprise us. Doug

I think Geno $cch$ actually said, "Lynn will go winless and you should be able to score on him on every down."

I'm half tempted to lock this thread and move it because it belongs in the fantasy forum! :rtfl:

I do vow to kick Joe's boot-ay if I play him. I hate 6 year olds!:D

my money is on Flynt

Geno will be too busy being the Host.......Wolf can't play! :dohdh:
After a few $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# he will be asking to shkthbx: but there is no shkthbx: :nhnh: :nhnh:

Wish I could be there guys. I dont miss many, and this is going to hurt my pride more than anything.

Have fun, I know it will be a great event

NAT,
You have to be more specific......you cant hedge your bet like that.:rnt;
There is Flynt Hendricks from Raymond KS and Chris Flynt from Lakewood CO. Both are entered.

I actually am putting my money on the Oklahoma secret weapon, King Carl Coley. Them Okies sneak up on you like the wind sweeping gently cross the plains!

NATIONAL 04-14-2010 03:52 PM

Will there be a Lance sighting??????

Lance was a pretty good coach....is he playing in the tourney?

Nat'l

ki6ds 04-14-2010 04:02 PM

Geno, can you post a list of the guys you know that are coming?? I might be able to make sure that the boys in Vegas have the right information. It could effect Wolf's Favorite Ranking. Wolf, Geno swears that you deserve to be the favorite. And he stands by saying that you could go unscored on for the whole tourney! Wolf, I hope you do get to play Joe, as you will NOT have the crowd behind you on that game.

I might also add that the Raymond Bulldogs will be under a strict curfew of 10:00 PM. I don't want them tempted by the bright lights and fast citizens of Lyons. They have a lot of work to do on Saturday, what with all of the competition that they will be facing.

Geno H 04-15-2010 09:57 AM

Here is a list of the confirmed Coaches that have entered.

Lynn Schmidt
Joe Schmidt
David Foster
Doug Hendricks
Tyler Davis
Chris Flynt
Jeff Bissonnette
Carl Coley
James Sledd
Jared Vonfeldt
Flynt Hendricks
Geno Hendricks

The Sooners and Michigan ready to compete

The Oklahoma Sooners and the Michigan Wolverines just finished their final walk through practice. Coach Chris Flynt had this to say "I am really excited for the tournment. I know my team is ready." When asked if Bradford shoulder will be ready for the game he had this to say "Bradford has been throwing well and I believe he will be just fine."
" Coach Jeff coach of the Wolverines had this to say "It's going to be great time. The team is playing good and is ready for battle.". Both teams will be leaving Denver early tomorrow morning.

Loading the car today for an early 5:15 departure to the airport. We will be flying with Orville and Wilbur Hendricks Airlines into the Lyons airport. (The whole town must be nothing but Hendricks)

Steelers and Chiefs can't wait. Joe Schmidt, age 6, made his announcement to me yesterday evening and I quote, "Dad, I'm going to win a trophy and a medal! Why else would I play the game?!" DUH!

(I might be slipping an old extra trophy in the hidden compartment of the car or it could be a long sad ride home. Do we have a sportsmanship trophy? :D )

ki6ds 04-16-2010 01:16 PM

The Raymond Bulldogs and Merced Bears have landed in Denver and are awaiting a connecting flight to Wichita. Easy flight so far. Super pumped for this one.

Weigh in & lock down is happening now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geno H

ki6ds 04-17-2010 11:38 AM

Tyler and I both passed weigh ins. Carl had some trouble with some of his guys being overweight. He said he was going to have to cut out some of the goodies on his training table. Last night some of the guys scrimmaged, Tyler and I got here really late as we had trouble with getting a rental car. long story. We did make it in time for us to run one series. Tyler took the kickoff, returned it to the 37 yard line, and then scored in 4 plays, and we had to shut down the operation due to the curfew time of the hotel. Can't wait to get started. Doug

Early results from pool play:

#1 seed Flynt and the Raymond Boars 3 - 0
#2 seed Geno and the Kansas City Chiefs 3 - 0
#3 seed James and the Chase Vipers 3 - 0
#4 seed Tyler Davis 2 - 1

The rest of the guys go into a play in round for the other 4 spots. Tyler Davis upset Wolf with a 45 yard field goal to win the game on the last play of the game. It was the very first time Tyler had ever used a TDK.

Doug reporting live from Lyons, Kansas and the Mid America Melee. Joe Schmidt and Steelers beat Michigan by yardage and a big penalty on Michigan for again calling a timeout when they didn't have any. You old timers will appreciate this. Doug

Interview With #1 Seed Flynt Hendricks at the Mid America Melee

I have Flynt Hendricks with me.

D: Flynt, you just finished pool play undefeated and were given the #1 seed based on points scored. How does it feel to be the #1 seed?

F: Great

D: Are you feeling like you have a target on your back?

F: Yes but it feels great and I plan on winning the whole thing and taking that fabulous trophy home with me to Raymond.

D: You scored 14 points in all of your wins and only gave up 7. Do you feel your offense is clicking today?

F: Most definitely. My passing game was really on today I only had 2 incompletions all day.

D: You killed me when we played. But you seemed to have trouble when I went to a spread offense late in the game. Did that bother you?

F: Kind of but I learned from it and will be making some adjustments. It was good to see that because I hadn't seen it before.

D: Good Luck and Play Hard.

F: Same to you and thanks for having me on.

The play in games are over:

The semi finals are going on right now. Geno leads in the first quarter 8 - 0 over Carl and his Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs are absolutely dominating and Geno has his A game on for sure.

In the other game, Flynt's Raymond Boars lead Tyler's Merced Bears by the score of 6 - 0. This game features my Dad Les's great grandson playing against Geno's Dad's grandson. Geno's Dad and my Dad were brothers who played 6 man football in Raymond in 1940. This game is also in the 1st Quarter.

ki6ds 04-17-2010 10:13 PM

Update:

Geno just scored again and went for 2 and made it to make it 16 - 0 over Carl playing in the FIRST QUARTER!!!

Flynt, scored at the same time but missed another PAT going for 2 and he leads Tyler 12 - 0 in the second quarter.

More as things happen.

ki6ds 04-17-2010 11:01 PM

The Raymond Boers have taken control of one semi final game, 18 - 0. Missing yet another PAT, but dominating on the field. Tylers team looks tired after playing several tough games today.

Geno is leading 22 - 0 and putting a serious whoopin' on Carl. Half time.

ki6ds 04-17-2010 11:03 PM

Final Score: The number 1 rated Raymond Boers are in the finals, having just defeated the Merced Bears 18 - 0. Head coach Tyler Davis layed his quarterback over, stood and shook Flynt's hand and congratulated him on the win trailing 18 - 0, with just 9 plays left in the game. Flynt will play the winner of Geno and Carl's game, and it sure is looking like Geno will win that one.

ki6ds 04-18-2010 12:41 AM

The finals are set!!! Geno just demolished Carl and the Raiders, who faded badly, losing 43 - 6. This sets up the all Hendricks championship game as Geno will play against his son Flynt in the championship game tomorrow at 11:00 AM. They will be playing for a unique championship trophy that we will post pictures of tomorrow.

Great tournament, lots of fun, lots of fellowship and a couple of great players advanced to the championship. Both of them deserve to be there.

Its late and time to say, good nite.

mark robin 04-18-2010 01:00 AM

thanks for the updates. be sure and , someone take plenty of pictures.

congrats to everyone, and to the finalist.

Late Kickoff in the Mid America Melee Championship game between Geno and Flynt. Flynt won the toss and elected to receive. He started at the 20, and has held the ball the entire first quarter for 10 plays. He is now at the 26 yard line with a second down. No score and Geno has not touched the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great game.

End of 1st qtr. Geno 0 Flynt 0

ki6ds 04-18-2010 02:08 PM

Flynt missed a 26 yard field goal and turned the ball over to Geno. Geno drove the lenght of the field in 5 plays and scored on a 50 yard Len Dawson to Stephone Page TD pass. Page caught the perfect pass at the 5 and walked into the endzone. The kick was perfect and late in the 1st half Geno 7 - Flynt 0.
