Ha. Could be. Still early, so the whole picture will change. And 6 of the 7 games each week now are conference games (including OU vs. OSU), so they pretty much are all important right off the bat.

We'll find out quickly, as I'm going to play the games in reverse order of how I listed them above, so I can get the big #2 vs. #3 showdown as the final game of the week.

Looking forward to Broncos-49ers in the interim, though. They've been waiting their turn for quite some time.

ECFA is low-budget this season. As in, I couldn't spend any money to add anything.

All the teams are ones I already owned, on bases I already possessed.

But I'm also not a big Pac-10 fan. In looking at teams I might add for next season, no Pac-12 teams are on the list except Utah.

Unless Oregon wins the national title. Whatever team wins the national title this year will be added.

Thanks Walt - I love that uniform and if I do Oregon, that's the uniform I will use. Same for Pitt - if I add them, they will be the Dorsett/Marino era version. I actually have an 11-man team of them on eBay at the moment.

If I go just by uniforms, it will be Georgia, Pitt, Oregon, and maybe LSU. But it's probably going to be more on geography based on the teams I already have, and the possibility of setting up 5-team conferences loosely based on real ones & geography.

But I got a lot of games to get through before that! :)

RooMorgans 11-11-2010 09:19 AM

That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure they'd all fit on the board at one time! But I should do that, and I also should get more shots like the warmup shots that Reg posts in his game recaps.

ECFA will resume soon - I have an EPFA game between Denver and San Francisco to get in today. Looking forward to that.

I also have pictures to post from Week 1 of the ECFA once I get them all cropped and resized.

wow. thanks for the pics. i sure like your Steelers CC, and the Pats look good, cant wait to get mine. i dont see how some of you guys can play so many games, my back would start to hurt...lol. thx again for all the pics.

RooMorgans 11-15-2010 08:39 AM

That's part of the reason why I play with the game board on the floor. Forces me to sit down. If I have it on a table, and I'm standing the entire time, my back would revolt and I wouldn't be able to play nearly as much.

The other advantage this way is that it makes it very difficult to lose track of where the ball goes on a throw or kick, because it's not going to drop any great distance.

I have two quick games to get in that I promised wolverine to help with his solo league, then I'm back to action with Week 2 college and pro games.

ECFA Week 2 is underway .....

.... BOOMER SOONER BOMBS, BLANKS BUCKEYES

Oklahoma (1-1, 1-0 Western Conference) recorded the first shutout in ECFA history today, beating the Ohio State Buckeyes (0-2, 0-1), 26-0.

This game wasn't for those who like offense. In fact, the Sooners only gained 174 yards on the day. But they used two big plays and a stellar defense to frustrate the Buckeyes at every turn. The first big play came after Ohio State's first possession ended in a punt. Carter caught the punt at the 36, broke right, then got a convoy of blockers headed left and waltzed into the end zone for the touchdown.

After taking a 13-0 lead in the second quarter on field goals of 45 and 51 yards, Oklahoma broke the game open midway through the second quarter. Musil took a handoff and rambled behind the left guard and tackle, then broke clear for a 68-yard score. OU ran for 161 yards on the day, as the Buckeyes linebackers didn't do a good enough job keeping Sooner running backs from getting to the second level.

Down 20-0, Ohio State appeared awoke, and reached the 49 yard line on Sanzenbacher's 10-yard catch from Pryor - but he fumbled! Wort forced it and recovered it for the Sooners, and they added another field goal before halftime to make it 23-0.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Buckeyes drove into Sooner territory, reaching the 39. But Saine was stopped for -1 on a run, and three straight Pryor passes fell incomplete. The next drive ended simliarly, then Pryor was picked off at tOSU 38 to end his team's last chance at putting anything on the board.

With national title hopes perhaps already extinguished, Ohio State takes on BYU in a conference game in Week 3. The Sooners, meanwhile, take on Michigan, also a conference game.

Oklahoma has always been my favorite college team. I have been having some very dominating games lately myself.

RooMorgans 12-04-2010 06:28 PM

They had a good running game, and their front 4 defensively dominated the game. The two defensive tackles, both Miggle wide-arm ends, were pretty much unstoppable.

This against an Ohio State team that is almost all Haiti Repro/Buzzball with a couple Miggle proline figures.

OSU might get one of those custom figs, they need the help!

For the pictures this is what one of the other members told me to do. Click on the picture and go to Open with then on the next screen click on paint this will bring the picture up. then hit control and w. then a dimensions screen will come up. what I do is hit the backspace button and chang the dimensions from 100 x 100 to 30 x 30 then enter. If you like what you see hit control and then s and that should do it.

dogwood30 12-04-2010 09:31 PM

My Tennessee team is like that. Both defensive ends are the miggle wide arm guys and they usually dominate but this time the Chargers buzzball linemen were getting their hands up into the right spot to get leverage and actually back them up or turn them. Now that i have numbered all my Legends teams by position I try my best to line my linemen up in the same position on every play at least on defense.

... HUSKERS LOSE GRIP, THEN HOLD ON

Nebraska had victory sealed, then fumbled it away, then came up big, all in the final 4 minutes of the Cornhuskers' ECFA Week 2 game against the Clemson Tigers. In the end, it added up to a 17-10 Nebraska win.

Leading, 17-3, in the fourth quarter, the Cornhuskers (1-1, 0-0 Western)seemed to have things well in hand. But they couldn't move the ball much in the fourth quarter, and the Tigers (0-2, 0-0 Eastern) closed within a touchdown when Parker hit Ashe for a 20-yard touchdown pass.

After a Nebraska punt, Clemson drove a short field and looked a certainty to score again, and and again, Ashe was involved. But this time, the plan turned to dust, when Ashe caught a pass, was hit at the Nebraska 10 by Smith, and fumbled. The Cornhuskers recovered and tried to run the clock out with 3:56 left. But on 1st-and-10, Legate ran 5 yards and fumbled himself! Maxwell recovered for Clemson, and the Tigers were 15 yards from paydirt again with 3:15 to go and three time outs.

Parker had to scramble on 1st down, gaining 1, as he was pressured by Nebraska defensive lineman Williams. That was a story all day, as Williams had a whopping 11 tackles, including three for loss (1 sack). A 10-yard penalty on Clemson on second down wiped out a short gain, and Ellington caught a pass on 2nd-and-19, getting back 8 yards. But a pass toward the end zone was inadvertently caught at the line of scrimmage by Dye on third down, leaving 7 seconds left. Ashe broke a double team and got open at the 6, and caught the pass, but he was tackled by Nebraska LB Fisher from behind to end the game.

Both teams have all their conference games in front of them, so national title dreams aren't yet dead for Clemson. For Nebraska, it's a second straight game that came down to the final play, but this time the ending was much better than their 25-23 loss to Purdue.

... BECKER RE-RUNS PROVE NAUSEATING FOR WOLVERINES

Illinois used a punishing running game between the tackles to soften up the Michigan defense, then Becker blasted through that line for one score on the ground, and he later caught one from quarterback Scheelhaase, as Illinois beat Michigan, 20-10, in Week 2 of ECFA play.

The Fighting Illini (2-0, 1-0 West) running backs, Becker and LeShoure, combined for 142 yards on 28 carries, getting 3 or 4 a pop before Becker broke through following his quarterback and his right guard for a 38-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter that gave Illinois the lead for good, 13-10. Later, Becker got open down the right sideline and caught a long cross-field pass from Scheelhaase, then scored to provide the 20-10 final margin.

Down, 6-0, at halftime, the Wolverines (0-2, 0-1 West) turned things around in the third quarter thanks to a 70-yard touchdown run from Cox and a field goal that made it 10-6. But that momentum didn't carry over to the final period, which Illinois dominated save for one late Michigan drive that ended with a missed field goal from 51 yards out.

Illinois appear to have a ground game that can match up with anyone, and their 2-0 record is no fluke. They've now won one game on the ground and one in the air, and are a threat to win the West and go to the Commonwealth Bowl.

Couple pictures from the Illinois-Michigan game.

1) ECFA Films special shot from the Chico's Bail Bonds Blimp, with Illinois on offense.

2) Illinois RB Becker (#41) powers into the end zone at the end of his 38-yard TD run. He was glued to the back of his quarterback Scheelhaase and the right guard pretty much the whole way, as Michigan's defense parted.

... BOILERS TURN HISTORY MAKERS, HAND KENTUCKY FIRST-EVER LOSS

Purdue got only one big play on offense, an 81-yard touchdown run from McBurse in the second quarter, but that, some timely defense, and a whole lot of ill will from The Box was enough to allow the Boilermakers to knock off Kentucky, 10-6.

The loss is the Wildcats' first ever in ECFA play, in this, their 6th game. Kentucky went 3-0 in the regular season during the first campaign, then captured the national championship by beating West Virginia in the Commonwealth Bowl, 21-9. Kentucky handled newcomer Michigan in its opener, 27-17, but couldn't find the end zone against Purdue, with most drives being ended by incompletions, interceptions, or penalties. Kentucky were penalized 6 times for 50 yards, giving them 11 infractions in just two games.

The Wildcats (1-1, 0-1 Eastern Conference) had control of the ball for much of the time, running 49 offensive snaps to Purdue's 33. But outside of one long run by Allen and a few decent passes here in there, Kentucky got in the red zone just once, reaching the Purdue 13 in the first quarter. Hartline threw an incompletion on 3rd down, and even the field goal team screwed up, committing a holding penalty, but the subsequent 40-yard try was good.

However, McBurse answered with his run up the middle two plays later, jaunting 81 yards through a bewildered Wildcat bunch, and giving Purdue the lead for good.

Kentucky had one last chance with 3:13 to play, but were 90 yards from the Purdue (2-0, 1-0 East) end zone. Two Box incompletions were followed by a missed pass from Hartline that short-hopped the receiver (no LindyHopper video review necessary! :rtfl:). On 4th-and-10, Hartline found Chris Matthews, who played Hardball to get the first down and out to the 35. But with no time outs left, UK had to hustle to the line to spike the ball. TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK ... with everyone lined up properly on both sides and the clock running, Hartline snapped and spiked the ball with 4 seconds left.

On the final play, however, the pass to Randall Cobb was incomplete, and Purdue had 10 defenders to pivot should he have caught it anyway. :rtfl:

Purdue takes on Virginia in Week 3, while Kentucky has another tough assignment on its hands, facing old rival Florida.
