Injury Report for Raymond Bulldogs and Merced Bears

Here is the latest injury report for the Raymond Bulldogs. Coach Doug Hendricks reports that all 22 of the players on the traveling squad will be making the road trip to Kansas. They will leave California early Friday morning from San Jose and fly to Wichita. There they will travel by rental car to the official Mid America Melee hotel arriving about 6:30 local time. Following last weeks game against Merced there were a few bruises and sore spots, but no serious injuries. Running back Merle Hendricks will be at full speed as he has fully recovered from twisting his ankle in the third quarter of that game. He has been practicing all week and is ready to go. That is good news for the Bulldogs as Hendricks is the main running back for the Bulldogs and was not at full strenth in last weeks game against Merced, although he did play and score a touchdown.

The team is excited about the tournament and can't wait for the games to begin. Coach Hendricks says that he is really excited too. This will be my chance to learn about what high level competion is about. I will get to see experienced coaches who know what the game is all about. We will try to be competitive, and if we are not, we will learn how to correct that and do what we need to get better. It is a marvelous opportunity for our team.

Coach Tyler Davis told me on the phone last night that his team is also ready. He said that he learned so much from our game last week. He has been having 2 a day practices so he can become more familiar with his players now that he has played a game. Tyle was over at Grandpa's house this weekend and brought his team. He asked to scrimmage me and we set up with his team on the 20. He marched down the field and scored in 5 plays. Much different than in the game last week. Tyler practiced, and found out who his strong players were. His line was totally different than the one in last weeks game and their play was much improved. He had the right players in the right positions and it made a difference.

I interviewed Tyler and here it is:

"Tyler, your team was much, much better in tonights short scrimmage, why?"
T: "Well, when we played last week we got killed. Your offensive and defensive lines pushed us all over the field. I decided that I had to find out if I had some better linemen, and I did."
GP: "How did you do that?"
T: "I lined them up head to head, every player, and let them fight it out. Went through the whole team. When I had the strongest player, I took him out, and did it again."
GP: "Sounds like a long process. A lot of work."
T: "Yes it was, but it was worth it. I discovered that I didn't even play 3 of my best linemen. But when I did the one on one drills, I found out who could play."
GP: "Are you ready to go to Kansas and play?"
T: "You bet."
GP: "What do you think will be the best part of the trip?"
T: "I already know the answer Grandpa, it's getting to skip out on a day of school. I told my teachers I was going to Kansas with my Grandpa and that we were going to play football."
GP: "I bet they were impressed with that, grin."
T: "They told me to have fun."
GP: "One final question. Is your team healthy?"
T: "Yes everyone is ready to go. No excuses. We will be there in full force and we will be ready to play our best. I hope to learn a lot from the guys there."
GP: "Tyler, thanks for doing the interview. It will be on the MFCA network later."
T: "You're welcome Grandpa, and I hope I get to play you again in the tournament as I can beat you now!"

We hope to see all of you in Lyons Friday night and Saturday. Doug

The Las Vegas Odds Makers have made Weird Wolf a big favorite to win the first annual G-Force Mid America Melee Football Tournament being held this weekend in Lyons, Kansas. Wolf is listed on the board at 2 - 1, with Geno Hendricks coming in at 4 - 1, Flynt Hendricks 6 -1, and everyone else at 10 to one or more.

Wolf will be bringing a big following with him, and he will be the one with a target on his back the whole weekend. Don't forget the fun starts on Saturday, and we will try to post scores as the day goes on depending on internet connections. The ESPN-MF Network will have a reporter covering the event for Tweak Magazine and the MFCA Forum. Doug

What have you been smokin?? Now Geno is really gonna be coming at me. I haven't been ranked as Number 1 in anything except for my ability to stay standing near the end of an Octoberfest Festival! $br#

Well all I know is what the boys from Vegas tell me. They said that they had an inside source and that it was true. You know the boys in Vegas always get it right, otherwise there wouldn't be all those bright lights and eye candy there.

I talked with Geno, and he agrees that you are the favorite. Says he thinks you may go through it undefeated and unscored upon. Can't wait to meet all the guys and wish that more would come. Maybe a couple of guys will decide to come at the last minute and surprise us. Doug

I think Geno $cch$ actually said, "Lynn will go winless and you should be able to score on him on every down."

I'm half tempted to lock this thread and move it because it belongs in the fantasy forum! :rtfl:

I do vow to kick Joe's boot-ay if I play him. I hate 6 year olds!:D
