With only 3 weeks remaining, the playoff positions are still up for grabs. Here’s the rundown on the teams and their chances for making the postseason.

In control: At 4-2, the Sasquatch, Third Reich, Bozos and Ra are in the lead for playoff spots. They have complete control of their destinies. Continue to win and they are in. Lose, and they open the way for another team to sneak in. The Sasquatch and Reich have yet to play each other, same for the Bozos and Ra. At best, 2 of these teams will finish with 3 losses, so nothing is guaranteed. The question is, who wants it more?

In the running:
The Werewolves, Mennonites and Killer Bees are still in the thick of things. If they win out for the year, they stand a good chance of getting in with 3 losses. Lose any of their games, and it will be tough. The Werewolves have yet to play the Reich, the Mennonites still have the Sasquatch to play, and the Killer Bees the Bozos and Ra.

Needing lots of help: The Fairies and Zombies are still mathematically alive at 2-4. It won’t be easy, they both need to win all their remaining games and hope others lose. Their best shot is at a division title, but are both 2 games behind the Ra. The Fairies and Ra face each other in week 8, the Zombies already lost to the Ra.

Out of it: At 1-5, the Toxic Waste are basically playing the part of the spoiler. They have the talent to beat anyone, but have underachieved all year. With the Third Reich, Sasquatch and Killer Bees on their schedule, they can wreck havoc on the other teams’ playoff dreams.

Could you list your league champions since you began? The Bozos and the Sasquatch always seem to be in it, but they were the flagship teams for this league. I'm just curious what the history has been.

Go Werewolves...Go Mennonites!

Lynn, I'll give a brief rundown on the WMLMF history.

The first season was with just 4 teams. They were the San Francisco Flaming Fairies, Canadian Sasquatch, Birmingham BumbleBees and the Three Mile Island Toxic Waste. I played 5 games with each team. The 'Quatch were 5-0, Fairies 4-1, BumbleBees 1-4 and Toxic Waste winless at 0-5. The Quatch and Fairies faced off in the first WMLMF championship game, which the Sasquatch won in overtime. ppcrn

During the off season, which was actually a couple of years, I added the Battlin' Bozos of Battle Creek, Munich Third Reich, Midwest Mennonites and New Zealand Zombies. I changed the bases for the BumbleBees and changed them to the Kalamazoo Killer Bees. I also made a few changes to the Toxic Waste to make them more competitive. The Sasquatch and Mennonites won their divisions, and the Bozos and Fairies were the wild card teams. The 'Quatch and Bozos won their playoff games and faced each other in the championship game, where the 'Quatch won their second title in a row. frstplc

For my 3rd season, I added the Egyptian Ra and Weirdwolf's Werewolves. Once again, the 2 division winners and the next 2 teams with the best records will face off in the playoffs, with the winners playing for the championship. :fghttt:

Next year will be a super treat, as I will be adding Green Bay Glenn's Hawaian Fire Lizzards and the one and only Kansas City Super Sumos (Thanks Lynn! ppls$ thmbsp$ ) to the league, as well as 2 other teams still to be determined. I can hardly wait. drl$$ drl$$ drl$$ ppls$ frstplc

I love your league. We need to setup a "real" fantasy draft with some guys from the forum for next season so that we can follow along and cheer our favorite players.

mark robin 09-10-2010 11:28 AM

Al, in one picture on glenn's old site, there was a picture of my "USA americans". , i also have the "Barbies done for my daughter" so, if you need either or both of the teams, give me a shout and i will send them to you to use in your season.

RavennaAl 09-12-2010 12:22 PM

Thanks for the offer Mark. I may take you up on it! Now, here's the lowdown for 'week 7' games....

Things are getting serious. Only 3 weeks to go, and the teams are jockeying for playoff positions. Here’s my picks for week 7:

Mennonites at Sasquatch: The Mennonites are coming off a tough loss to the Bees. The ‘Quatch are furious after losing to the Zombies on a controversial final play. The Amish just haven’t been clicking, the Sasquatch are ready to kill. The big guys take their anger out on the men in black, ‘Quatch by 10 points.

Killer Bees at Ra: Egypt escaped with a victory over the lowly Toxic Waste. The Bees have found their mojo after winning the last couple of games. Moses has been known to be careless with his throws, the Bees lead the league in interceptions. Kalamazoo makes it 3 wins in a row with a 2 point victory.

Werewolves at Flaming Fairies: Nobody runs against the Wolves, which means Cruise will be airing it out often. The down side is San Francisco’s receivers aren’t known for their speed. The Wolves are simply too strong for the Fairies, the canines win by 7 points.

Third Reich at Toxic Waste: Munich looks to rebound from last weeks upset. The Waste are demoralized and have no chance of making the playoffs. Look for Klink and co. to score early and often. Reich by 10 points.

Bozos at Zombies: Battle Creek showed it can play against anyone with last week’s victory against a much stronger Wolf team. New Zealand showed some life with it’s upset of the Sasquatch. Can they do it again? The clowns are too quick and balanced for the Zombies, Bozos win by 3 on a Bernie field goal.

Here's the week 7 games....

San Francisco Treat Spells Defeat For Werewolves

Tommy Cruise threw 3 4th quarter touchdown passes to give San Francisco an improbable come from behind victory over Weirdwolf‘s Werewolves, 31-28. Jack Nicholson ran for 2 TD’s and caught a pass for another, but it was his fumble at the beginning of the 4th quarter that triggered the scoring bonanza for the Fairies.

Trailing 21-10, Cruise hit Antoine Devries for a 42 yard scoring strike to make the score 21-17. Oz quickly pushed the lead back up to 28-17 with a sizzling 89 yard kick return for a TD. With plenty of time remaining, Cruise guided his team to a 68 yard, 9 play scoring drive ending with a 16 yard TD pass to Michael Jackson. The Fairies then recovered the ensuing on sides kick at their 43. Three plays later, Cruise once again connected with Devries, this time a 21 yard lob into the back of the end zone to put the Fairies on top. The Wolves managed to get the ball down to the Fairy 17 yard line, but Wolfman Jack missed the field goal attempt on the last play of the game.

Devries finished with 5 catches for 115 yards and 2 scores for San Francisco, while Warren Moon was 6-10-0 for 119 yards and 1 TD for the Wolves. Wolfgang Puck had 5 tackles and a sack for the Wolves, while Forrest Whittaker had 5 tackles for San Francisco.

Johnny Holmes, #45 scores for the Fairies

Barney Frank, #47 , recovers a fumble

Jack Stone, #81, greets Jack Nicholson with a voicious hit
