THE STORY BEHIND YOUR NICKNAMES

I asked this quesh maybe 2 years ago and got some very interesting responses. Now that we have so many new members i will ask it again.

WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND YOUR CHATBOARD NICKNAME !!

please have some fun and detailed answers on how it came about.

Myself, everyone calls me DRE. Even all women young and old. Some of the older women go as far as MR. DRE LOL !

I fell in love with the grace of the black fish as it swooshes about and throughout the ocean's of the world. I have 4 or 5 different mantaray teams painted to date with more coming. If i were to enter the NFL it would be with the MANTARAY'S. Either in hawaii or pasadena californ 'I' 'A". I put two and two together and came up with

MANTARAYDRE **********

PS/My favorite nickname on this chat is "IFRICHARDTODDWASGOD"

Taylor 01-04-2009 06:04 PM

My user name is my Dad's name.

raiderhp 01-04-2009 06:10 PM

It's as simple as the name.I'm a huge raider fan and the HP stands for my initials.I dig the question though.I look forward to the responses.

RavennaAl 01-04-2009 06:18 PM

We were living in Ravenna, Michigan when I first discovered the Miggle chat board sometime in '95 or '96. Even though I grew up in San Jose, California, I adopted Ravenna as my hometown (It's where my wife grew up). Somehow San Jose Al just didn't have the same zing to it as Ravenna Al, so that's how I picked it.

Electric Coach 01-04-2009 06:25 PM

The Name

Below is an excerpt from the fall edition of the Tweak. Also the complete Electric Coach article can be read at the web site www.electriccoach.com . Click the "B.O.E.Z" button at the site to read the article.

While visiting message boards by Miggle and Buzzball, Moe noticed that hobbyists around the hobby were referring to themselves as “coaches”. Shortly after visiting the message boards and trying other ideas for a name, Moe came up with the title that would launch him into electric football history. The name he came up with was Electric Coach.

I picked my name because no matter where I got to college, I'm allways be a Badger fan first. Wisconsin boy born and raised.

DETMURDS 01-04-2009 07:54 PM

For my user name,.....it started out as a fantasy sports team name and was originally the "Detroit Murderers". I abbreviated it to DETMURDS and have been using this nickname for almost everything since around 1997.

Mine is the combo of my last name "Harmon", and my favorite starting hand in poker "A-8" (Aces and Eights also known as the "Dead Man's Hand")...great thread!

DallasStar22 01-04-2009 08:29 PM

Mine is Dallas because I love the Cowboys and Star because that is the Cowboys logo and 22 because that is Emmitt Smith's number and I was named after him.

Tomkat 01-04-2009 11:21 PM

.

Nothing special here. My last name is Tomko. When I was a freshman, (many, many years ago), one of my coaches started callng me Tomkat, and it stuck. Alot of people here in our small town, don't know my real name, or have even forgotten it, but everyone knows me by Tomkat. FYI, this was long before Tom and Kate became "Tomkat", which I believe I have grounds for a lawsuit since spelling is the same. Need to check into that.

MplsTom 01-05-2009 09:11 AM

Nickname

Mpls is short for Minneapolis (the metro area where I live) and Tom is my name. I did get a kick out of a person at a tournament who said, "hey, it's mipples tom". The avatar is of Mark "The Bird" Fidrych of the Detroit Tigers who used to talk to the baseball and smooth the mound out between innings...a true character.

Raiderman used to call me "Marino" because he thought I looked like Dan Marino.

My wife calls me "Stallion" but that's a whole different thread (or is that Weirdwolf that she calls that). :rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl:

RAIDERMAN 01-05-2009 10:41 AM

Marino

I called you Marino because you're the prettiest electric football coach out there!! :rtfl: All you need to do now is do an isotoner commercial! :rtfl: :rtfl:

RAIDERMAN

Did you hear that CorEy? Raiderman called ME the prettiest coach in the hobby, not you, Mr. National Prettyboy.

I know, them are fighting words...or at least a throw-down for a "who can gel and blow-dry their hair into the proper formation" contest.ppls$ ppls$

Ned Flanders 01-05-2009 06:53 PM

You can blame Perry Burke of Las Vegas for my nickname. He hung it on me back in 2001 at the LAEFL championship weekend, and it stuck. Oh well...

:)

Fydrich was a special time back in Detroit,...which at the time was one of the only reasons why ABC showed the Tigers on Monday Night Baseball instead of the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles and Dodgers as it seemed they always did. I found it almost as fun as the 68, and 84 championships,....well, not that much!?

detroitchild 01-05-2009 07:48 PM

Wow...I was at the Monday night game that he pitched against the Yankees. You talk about electricity in the air.

Ahhhhh...the good old days!

Oh yeah...

...born and raised in the Motor City. Nuff said!

WEIRDWOLF 01-05-2009 10:00 PM

On September 26, 1999 as the full moon rose over Arrowhead Stadium (Ok, it was a noon game but full moon just sounds better) an eerie change was taking its effect on a loyal Chiefs Fan of 28 years. From his house in , Kansas

Some still remember the early days of Municipal Stadium. In one end zone on the bleacher seats, a group of the best, most rowdy fans in the AFL became known as “The Wolfpack” for their loud and boisterous cheering. Who said it first is unknown but from the simple words…”That bunch sounds like a pack of howling wolves” the Wolfpack tradition was born and lives on today. Weirdwolf is dedicated to keeping that tradition alive as I lead my sections in Arrowhead to get LOUDER!!

mantaraydre 01-05-2009 10:24 PM

Well, forty six years ago you see mom and dad...well lets just say...and nine months later they labeled me with this name.:nhnh:

ShaynDaPain 01-06-2009 02:27 AM

Shayn DaPain

My nickname in HS was Shayn DaPain. I actually got the name as a wrestler when I broke a kids coller bone on back-heal trip/suplex. It didn't really stick though until the following year in Football. At practice my sophmore year I hit a friend of mine, Robbie sent him to the hospital. I stayed overnight at the hospital reading sports magazines with him that night. At school the next day everybody was calling me 'the pain'. It was better than my childhood nicknames.:fghttt:

raiderhp 01-07-2009 02:54 PM

i had a feeling when this topic got started it would be interesting.I see that I was right. Some of you guys have great stories for your names.

MplsTom 01-07-2009 04:10 PM

Fidrych

Here's a youtube clip of an old interview with Fidrych. For you youngsters, this guy was definitely eccentric. He kind of reminds me of Rocky Balboa:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm_jU0b5Hgw

You referred to the Monday Night game against the Yankees, I watched that game on TV and it was honestly the most electric I've ever seen a baseball crowd.

I remember watching on TV as the lineups were being introduced and here's Fidrych in a lawn chair saying, "Mark Fidrych" then he blows a bubble and cracks it, "Pitcher" (blows another bubble) and "Northboro Mass"

I remember thinking who is this guy...then when infielders made a good play, he'd be flopping all around congratulating them (kind of like Wolf when he makes a TD). He was a hoot.

Silverhorse 228 01-07-2009 05:40 PM

The roots of Silverhorse 228

It is quite simple actually...my first love was the Cowboys, my second love was the team of the 90's...my all time favorite players are Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman...my family was "CB" (for those that do not know what this is just watch the movie "Smokey and the Bandit"-stands for citizen band) enthusiast and my father drove a Silver custom made Cadilliac and loved horses...thus his "handle" was Silverhorse...so put it all together...

Silverhorse 228
"CB" handle+Emmitt Smith+Troy Aikman

and thus the story is told....

P.S. The "Silverhorse" also appears on the logo for my favorite style of car of all time...the Ford Mustang!
