I can't remember which game it was, but I had just turned 13, it was COLD as all get out and Da BEARS were losing.
This lady, 2 or 3 rows in front of me and about 5 seats to the left, leaned over the banister and just ripped one of the players a new one. Called him all kinda "fat, black and useless" obscenities she and her cold beers could think of. All of a sudden, this guy, who was sitting on the bench, just dog tired from playing in the cold, wet conditions - snapped! Faster than I could blink my eye, he leaned over, yanked off his size 15 cleat and whipped it at this lady. It hit her square in the chest and I swear she flew back 3 rows! Suffice it to say she shut-up! That guy was... |

good story jimbo....
On my team (Redskins) off - Otis Wonsley & Kelvin Bryant Def - Monte Coleman & Darryl Grant on other teams off - Dan Ross (bengals) - James Brooks - Mike Pruitt (Browns) Def - George Martin (giants) - Spider Lochart - Greg Bingham |
On my favorite team
Jack Lambert Favorite player of all time above any other Walter "sweetness" Payton #34 |
The New York Giants
Bill's Favorite Players: Offense: Tiki Barber. One of the finest running backs of all time. Could run, block, catch and consistently rip off 15-20 yd carries each week. Only player to lead in total yards three straight years. The heart of a Giants team that did not fulfill it's promise. ![]() Defense: Lawrence Taylor: All Pro. Last Def. Player to be NFL MVP (1986). Played hard, but was a very clean player. Forced coaches to run plays away from his side and into the arms of Harry Carson (HOF), Pepper Johnson, and Carl Banks who were actually better linebackers than Taylor was. ![]() Not on My Team: Offense: Barry Sanders: The name speaks for itself. ![]() Defense: Ronnie Lott: I'll never forget Mark Bavaro over the middle on Monday Night Football in Dec. 1990. He catches the ball...sees Ronnie Lott coming...and runs out of bounds. Earlier in the game, Lott knocked Bavaro sensless. Payback for the "Monday Night Ride" of 1986. When you put fear into Mark Bavaro, the buck stops with you. ![]() |
That Wasn't A Star...hmmm...
On My Team:
Offense - Phil Mckonkey (sp) Defense - Keith Hamilton Other Teams: Offense - Tony Nathan Defense - Monte Coleman |
That Wasn't a Star
Raiders: Morris Bradshaw #81...saw him score 2 long TD's for Ohio State vs Wisconsin...first college football game I remember. He was a favorite ever since.
Robbie Bosco: He didn't play a snap in the NFL for the Packers (outside of preseason), I just remember him hobbling out on one leg to beat Michigan and give BYU the national championship in 1984. Jim Herrmann: The defensive captain of that BYU team (Steve Young's roommate and best man) married an extremely nice gal from our high school. He's from a neighboring town. Great guy...has helped us out for charity events. Played some for the Cowboys and Patriots. Jeff Siemon: Stand up guy...was our adult Sunday School teacher. As great of a player as he was, he is 3x the man. |
I haven't heard some of those names forever
But some of you guys are missin me, this is a no stars allowed question.
|
Favorite Player
Oscar Reed, RB, Minnesota Vikings - Average player with big heart and very nice person
Jesse Tuggle, Atlanta Falcons - Just a hard worker all the time |
Favorite NYG players that were NOT stars...they probablly were stars, but more locally and certainly were not household names.
Offense: Charles Way (FB) and now NYG RB coach. Defense: Will Demps (FS) from another team: Offense: Gary Clark (WR) Defense: Steve Atwater (FS) Broncos |
Favorite Players
I'm going to date myself here. When I was a kid my favorite team was (and still is) the NY Giants. In those days they were very, very bad.
My favorite player was Homer Jones the WR who many believe was the first to spike the football after scoring a TD. Also I have to give a shout out to Kicker Pete Gogolak who came up with the Buffalo Bills and then was later signed by the NY Giants. He was the first soccer style kicker in the NFL. |

Like mine. Anybody ever hear of Noah Jackson? Good guy, truly a BEAR of a man - compared to a 13 year old - but a good guy. Lost his autograph in a fire and that prolly meant more than OJ's Rookie (before "If it doesn't fit, you MUST acquit!") |
Oh my bad. Rick Razzano. Played special teams with the Bengals and is also from New Castle, PA. He know coaches our semi-pro team. The New Castle Thunder. How's that Jimbo.
|
CORRECTION- He now coaches for the New Castle Thunder.

Does anyone know Bobby Morse?
Holy cr*p I've gotta make that Barry Sanders pose with my FF figures! He's my all time favorite BY FAR and that is a sweet action shot!
Now, as to no-name favorite pro players, I'll go with Bobby Morse. For any Michigan State fans you may remember him as an excellent side kick for Lorenzo White, and he went on to become his fullback during Lorenzo's magical senior year. He also returned a punt for a TD against my beloved Wolverines. In the Pros he had a very short careeer where he touched the ball only a handful of times, but it was highlighted by a kickoff return TD for the Saints against who else, the Lions (my favorite Pro team growing up). Bobby Morse grew up in my home town of Muskegon Michigan, went to my alma mater high school (Muskegon Catholic Central) were he lead the high school team to multiple state titles and he comes from a family who is very giving back to the community. ...NCH and Joe! The "no-names" deserve AS MUCH credit as the superstars do 'cause they couldn't do it without them.

None HOF's
Here goes
Offense Billy Simms (Det) Mercury Morris (Mia) Ernest Byner(Cle & Bal) Defense Steve Atwater(Den) Pat Tillman (Ari) Fellow Ranger |
Yo Jimbo,
Where did you get that photo? |
Well..my favorite teams are the LA Rams (not the St Louis version) and the Fins.
For the Rams, my favorite non-star is Willie "Flipper" Andersen...that 1989 season is still one of my best memories, even if I had to see most of it in replays and all 'cause I was in the service. For the Dolphins, I would have to go with Jimmy Cefalo. |

favorite non stars
man..naming non stars is tuff.i guess even the average players had some great moments, thats why they played in the nfl.........but here goes
favorite team la rams....... 34 les josephson and 33 willie ellison ( both played in the 60's and early 70's and had their moments running the ball )......80 wr bucky pope ( the catawba claw )......had about 2 or 3 good years other teams 59 lonnie warwick mlb vikings ( played in the 60's and early 70's )........then finished career in atlanta 34 jim braxton fb buffalo bills ( led the way for oj ) |
favorite team Cowboys
Bill Bates Safety/ Corner Eugene Lockhart Linebacker Chuck Cecil Arizona Safety Lionel James Chargers RB Currently a big fan of Kyle Vanden Bosch, that guy just keeps on working. He's not exactly a no-name, but he is definitely blue collar! |
Well from one of my favorite teams:
Jacksonville Jaguars, Quinn Grey, QB- I don't know why I like him the best, I just remember a few years ago he came in and played against the Chiefs when he was the 3rd stringer and he became my favorite player, and I only watched play 1 time. |
DEFINITELY THE BEST!
my favorite is:
off: billy "white shoes" johnson houston oilers def: jack tatum and lester hayes oakland raiders |
No-namers
Off: Steve Smith, FB, Raiders - All the great running the Raiders did with Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson? Smith was the one opening the holes.
Jim Kleinsasser, TE, Vikings - Getting hard to find Tight Ends who can block anymore...they're turning into jumbo WRs. I like the guy who can seal the end of the line, and Kleinsasser has been the best of the last decade. Def: Eddie Anderson, S, Raiders - Hit like a ton and made some timely picks James Hasty, CB, Chiefs - I hate the Chiefs, but it was hard not to like the big shoulder pads and bump and run style of Hasty. He even played for the Raiders....for one play. |
THIS MIGHT BE OBVIOUS FOR ME
MICHAEL DOWNS FS #26
EUGENE LOCKHART MLB #56 DEXTOR CLINCKSCALES SS #47 ALL ON THE DALLAS COWBOYS OF THE 80'S |
