Did I say something funny?

What's the joke, Ken, so I can laugh too?

Or maybe I should rephrase my answer and offer the answer to be based on public record: Strength and Speed in this hobby has recently been quantified at several events around the country over the last few years and if I'm not mistaken, that list is most likely available on the MFCA.org site or one of the TWEAK mags.

The Rookie 11-23-2009 03:40 PM

I am not all knowing but have bought and seen many strong masterbasesers

Some of the best masterbasesers ( they spend many hours master basing )
No order of importances

Joel P
Norbert
Jim Hulk
RD
Petros

and many more I am sure

sweetka 11-23-2009 04:18 PM

The contrast was funny.

The public record. Jimmy had all these pictures, stompings, maimings and then you come with the facts are . . . I just thought the contrast between the two post was funny. That's all.

See you at Miggle ;)

Looking at it from that POV, that was pretty funny! It's hard to find anyone stronger than HULK, at least proof by pictures. In all the comics I've ever read, I only remember him getting caught by a few good shots or punches, or simply being cast into different dimensions or universes, but never utterly defeated. That's a bad mamma jamma for sure!

Don't forget

G-FORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geno has some very strong stuff.

Dearell Brevard has been around forever tweaking strong bases.

Keith's son Robert makes stronger bases than his dad.

I'm not as known as the other big names, but I can strike gold every once in awhile. I like to call my creations.....Spiderman Bases!!!!! Jim got a load of them at the last Buzzball tourney!!!!

It'll happen soon enough. I don't know if any of your crew are coming to Miggle but the air fare is low and there's a shuttle to the hotel from the airport.

It's my understanding that you guys employ a shootout style without the need for referees. I am curious as to how this is done.

Up until this year in the Great Lakes we used an honors system with the occaisional request for a pair of eyes at critical moments. Do you guys have some format you use and if so is it written?

Two brews is more than enough to throw me off my game! $br# $br#

mozeek 11-24-2009 12:51 AM

Actually Ken

We have employed that style here in the BAM we used a tourney format to determine our champion and all quarter and semi final games were played without referees and without keeping stats....but we still kept running game clock and used the setup clocks...and it worked out great we got more games in than we would with refs and stat keeping and all that.

We may make some adjustments with the last two minutes before half and end of game....But it ran smoothly......
THat idea goes to Bob Slate ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$

The Rookie 11-24-2009 02:29 AM

Ken

I am not playin in the DFW this year but to answer your question they do need refs.

The best games that I have played is with the honor system between men no officials

Just my take

If we ever do play I will bring you a case $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# $br# so I will have a shot at that D of yours

APPARENTLY, NO ONE PERSON IS THE STRONGEST.

Since my suggestion was overlooked, I'll just simply answer the question with 2 words: NOBODY. MANY.

Nobody and Many, because all the winners from all of the Strongman Competitions weren't at the same event for a head to head battle, so all we're going to accomplish here is theory, conjecture and fairy tails...oops, fairy tales. :D

Take all the weiners...winners...give them the same tweak tools, the same bases and the same board and then we'll see who's who and what's what.

Now I've got a question. WHO CARES?

Everyone that wants THEE STRONGEST BASES IN THE WORLD and doesn't put in the time and do it for themselves is chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Coach X tweaks stronger bases than Coach Y who bought bases from Coach Z, but neither none have ever beaten Coach A, ever! Not even a scrimmage. How much of a factor is strength now?

For those who never saw the first 10 renditions of the Miggle Message Board, there was a recurring thread that we had to keep reiterating: You have to coach your team to victory! Buying the strongest bases will not result ininstant success.

Here's a real world correlation. When Barry Switzer took over the COWBOYS after Jimmy and Jerry broke up, who got the credit for that Championship? Barry or Jimmy? I'm not a fan of Dallas but I know that Jimmy should have gotten a ring for putting that team together.

That's not going to happen in MF. Speaking from experience, I've played an unstoppable team built and coached by someone else in a previous season, but under the new coach I beat him 28-0. Was it the team or the Coach ?

I've built teams for others that have beaten people I couldn't beat head to head, only to get beaten by me. Was it the team or the Coach?

You have to build your own rooty poot team and play and rebuild and play and improve and adjust and play and fail and lose and play and win and get better and take steps forward and slide backwards and get up and learn new techniques, etc, etc.

YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR LUMPS!
YOU CANT BUY A TEAM FROM X AND EXPECT TO BEAT Y AND Z, WHEN X CAN'T.
YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME.
YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE.
YOU HAVE TO COACH.
IF IT AIN'T WORKING, YOU HAVE TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

NOBODY AND MANY ARE STRONG. WHO CARES?

Coach Rip 11-24-2009 12:29 PM

JIMBO 11-24-2009 02:31 PM

LOMAX, THAT'S A BETTER QUESTION, BUT...

How do we measure your record vs. mine vs. Vince Peatros' vs. OldSchool's vs. LaVelle Shelton vs. Jimmy Davis vs. Mike Turner vs. Edgar Downs vs. Micheal Robertson vs. Simmie vs. Reginald vs. Matt Culp vs. Ravenna Al vs. Frank Johnson vs. Frank Jacobs vs. Norbert vs. RD vs. MichiganJoe vs. the next guy and so on and so on?

We need ONE single solitary event that EVERYONE attends to determine THEE BEST COACH of any particular year or style. And the best way I've seen is the way we sid it at MFCA Con I.

So, since that is the one time it was done right, by my standard at least, Adrian is #1 and I'll share #2 with Joe Greco since he had to leave early and beat me in our game. But, who am I?

If we can ever get EVERYONE under one roof playing one way, or trim the Tournies down to 3 or 4 "Majors" ala PGA or PBA, then we'd see who's bad!?!

(Disclaimer: NO disrespect implied or intended toward the late, great Jacko.)

...but I got the Golden Whistle to prove it! :nhnh:

As far as determining The Best, do you really think Miggle is the truest test? It might be a cog in the equation of Miggle+BuzzFest+Seawall BRAWL+MFCA Con+TSO/CBSMF = Championship Season.

(Here comes another FRIGGIN' DISCLAIMER: NO disrespect intended toward any other Tourney I didn't mention.)

no disinn' here.....

we have had thsi discussion before in the past.....

the hard part is to do just that - GETTING EVERYONE UNDER ONE ROOF TO PLAY........

as for you being #2, that was now 2 summers ago and If I am correct, based on the MFCA guidelines (I dislike the term 'rules') that K-lo won the Coaches Challenge more for just playing than enything else
but that is not the same thing we are talking about.

that is one of the reasons to build a "universal set of guidelines that would include most of the rules being used today, plus some things that make it more of a challenge.

JIMBO 11-24-2009 05:12 PM

Thats the point...

You weren't there 2 years ago and I wasn't there this past year, and I got you at The SWB 3 years ago. How does that math add up? Doesn't matter until EVERYONE commits to the same 3 or 4 Tournaments. Too many events waters down the formula, empties the wallet and ********es the Mrs. and kids off!

So, yes we've been down this road 100 times b4, because 100 different newbs asked it 100 different times, and each time we gotta see 100 different pictures of The HULK tearing some sh** up!?!?! :rtfl:

So, when, where and how we gon' settle it?

Let's set the 2010 "Championship Circuit" now:

Miggle - January
BuzzFest - March
Seawall BRAWL - June
BamaBlast - June
MFCA Coaches Challenge - August
TSO - formerly Labor Day ~ September 1st
BeltsvilleBash - formerly Columbus Day weekend

That's 6 events. Use Tom Ruesink's or AJ's Ranking System and see who The Man is next November.

Who's in?

The Rookie 11-24-2009 05:18 PM

Are yall still talking about the Strongest or the best coach ( Team)??

JIMBO 11-24-2009 05:30 PM

In '08, Adrian won the coveted leather helmet worn by Mike Turner when he played pee-wee football WITH Pop Warner (they called him "Pup" in those days ;)) back in the early 20s or so, and I think the Golden Whistle was my Runner up prize???

The Golden Coaches whistles were awarded to the the team members from a MFCA region with the highest point total in the Coaches Points Challenge.
The first year the 3 whistles went to: Jimbo Dunagan, Damon Lucas and Steve Martin who were the team members from the Great Lakes Region. Their names are also engraved on the perpetual travelling Daley Award. This last year the South West region won the award and the whistles with the team members of Mike Robertson, Robert Don and Doug Shanefelt. The Daley Award is currently in their possession until next years convention.

I had a coach suggest a very interesting format. Give each coach 22 players (stock), everyone gets the same figures. Give everyone 22 bases(same bases), set a time limit, say 1 to 1 1/2 hour, so that bases can be tweaked. Then go play. I thought this was a very interesting idea.

Used to do that format. The coaches didn't like it and the quality of play sucked.

However, that was before the tweak era with the pliers and all. But wouldn't that contest be about the best tweaker, not coach.

The high level of play is what most coaches are after. That being said, you can still only use stock figures and bases at both Miggle and Buzzfest. You just have a longer time to prepare and tweak your bases priro to the tourney. Odd thing is that even with that it seems the top coaches wind up at or near the top. thmbsp$

Big country, this has been done, but not 22 players, it was 35 stock players in 1 1/2 hours, Oh yeah, that team made it to the miggle national championship game and lost by 1 point.

That was a high quality game and it was right at the start of the tweak era. Honestly, I think you'd win every one if it came down to that. You're like a machine so if we BAN you then it might get pretty interesting! :rtfl: :rtfl: thmbsp$
