Have been watching college football all weekend and gotta say that as a traditionalist I did not think I'd like some of the new uniforms but man...there are some sweet new uni's out there.

Can't wait to see some of our talented brethren take a crack at 'em.

Hey Wolf,

Watching the Boise St., Va. Tech game now. I like Tech's uni. Trying to get use to Boise's uni but I love their helmets.

did boise run out of money like the steelers did, logo on only one side :D

I like them for a change of pace and VT uniforms are especially cool (with unibody looking black and matte helmets). However they would be better if VT were actually black and orange. They don't even appear have their main color in them (maroon). Also, the numbers are...well not that nice looking really. Boise uniforms need some orange...and the gray on white on the jersey don't look very crisp to me, actually kind of ugly...but different. On a side note, thanks goodness the game is not on that blue turf.

Did you see any uni's this weekend that you'd like to paint?

Yuck! I always thought Michigan should go outside the box for a game or so.... how bout' yellow jerseys for and out-of- conference oppener? Would be kinda sweet.....

But the match-up Monday night did look sweet. ppls$

Nike has a group of new jerseys that that some teams will wear on select games (I forget what the call the series of jerseys). I didn't think I would like them, but some (like Bosie and V-Tech) grew on me. Some of Nike's other tesams are TCU, PITT, Miami, Oregon State, Florida, West Virginia and Alabama and Ohio State. Some are hits, some a terrible misses.

I am going to have paint some of these teams. I may start with Monday night's match-up..... Perhaps some other coaches will paint some of these college teams.... Maybe we could put up on E-bay with sales going to the MFCA?

WMaybe coaches all over the nation could send you decals from their teams a with the numbers you or they want for the players/. If so I am in . I could send you Texas Tech players.

The new Unis are hot. ESPN did a poll of college players and OREGON was a runaway winner in a contest of BEST UNIFORMS IN COLLEGE football. VT may be a really close second now tho!!! Look like Some bengals from a distance!! I may have to try those next.thmbsp$ thmbsp$

The new Boise and VT uniforms looked terrible, but I would like to see someone do a miniature team with those. The Arizona Cardinals in black also looks awful to me. I prefer tradition, but a few little tweaks here and there from time to time can be ok too. In fact, I'm working on an '84 Packers team right now. Probably the most unique version of their modern uniforms, but still very cool.

The other thing modellers should have notice, is the new modern helmets, looking a little like modern bike racing helmets, with edges, holes and stuff like that.

As far as I know, that new types of helmets stills quite rare last years, used specificaly on a few positions, but this season we see that new helmets almost everywhere. It will become the new modelling challenge in custom football figures, I guess.

If you need any close ups showing the Riddell Revolution and Speed let me know Dimitri...:D
I play with both of´em and the Speed is the better choice when it comes to overall fit, protection, better view and hard hitting hlmt$.

Apparently OSU will sport their version of Pro Combat for their annual game versus Michigan.

searching on google, it seems that there isat least 3 diferent new helmets :confused:

They all look like bad defunct European League jerseys, or poorly designed soccer uniforms. As creative as they are I am not impressed with the direction some of these uniforms are going. Just doesn't look like football.
Too many "slashy" stripes and "star trek" style numbers. Keep it simple.

I love Star Trek!

And I hear you, I hate those tiny stripes, but I have to admit I love colors and the variations and a move, from time to time, away from tradition; to do something different. Some of these new nike combat jerseys have me fired up again to do more college teams. Sometimes the teams look better on EFL teams than the do in "real life".

That flat back on VT was off the chain, and mixed in with the orange shoes and gloves... sweet..... Almost finished with my sample figure and wow... looks great.... Now I have do some of these combat teams.

No race here. I pefer to take my time and I hate taking a pic of only one player (you need 11 to field a team!). Ronnie is the undisputed KING of the instant teams that look great. :D

Have to admit I am excited about these teams. VT will have black platforms, Bosie in Grey. Need to get more Buzz Ball and Miggle big men to round out the squad. Perhaps 2-3 custom players each as well. They're gonna be nice. I will post a pic or two as I move along starting tonight.

So there is only one new ridell helmet shape ?

The Revolution is a couple of years in use and the Revolution Speed came up big time last season. My opinion the Speed has a overall smoother fit than the Revolution.
