Another Solitaire...

tournament this weekend in the Man Cave stadium.

Been customizing and painting the Black Knights of the Hudson a lot (more pics to come shortly) - it is time to get some more game action in - I am itching to play!!! hlmt$ ftbll$ $cch$

This will be a double elimination tourney - All games played on Miggle smaller Super Bowl board with the stadium surround in place (no spectators or details yet - hopefully this summer).

Each team will get 2 - four play possessions in the game. Most yards gained / points determines winner.

7-on-7 football, seven offensive players face seven defensive players

Only passing is allowed.

FOB tackling only.

Teams will start possessions on their own 45 YL.

All players except the center are eligible to catch or intercept a pass.

1 defender can line-up over center and rush the QB.

QB may be stationary or mobil - but cannot run the ball past the LOS.

The coach will have four seconds to run the board and make a decision.

A defensive player may return an interception for a touchdown.

A one-point extra-point attempt is played from the 3-yard line.

A two-point conversion attempt is played from the 10.

In final game there will be two - 45 minutes halves - 15 yards to gain First Down.

Tournament draw will be done and brackets posted soon.

Hope to post some video along with pics.

to show the set-up for the tournament - field, stadium, etc...

These show the 7 vs. 7 spacing and a typical formation.

So far providing lots of passing practice.

nice stadium!

RooMorgans 01-15-2011 01:45 PM

I love the stadium set up! Very old-school college, kinda.

Excellent design for the tournament - definitely a Backyard Football kind of thing. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Are you coming to Miggle?

Go Steelers!!!

artlax 01-16-2011 10:26 PM

Bad news...

for the fans of the Redskins and Steelers

In the winners bracket...
Cowboys over the Red and Black 12-6

---------------------------------------

In the play-back bracket

Jets defeated the Steelers by total yards gained
(hope this is not any indication for next week)

Patriots eliminated the Redskins by total yards gained also.

Next up...

Red and Black vs. Patriots

Jets vs. Seahawks

Getting towards the end now - these games all 2 possessions each team
15 yards to gain a first down - still any touch
only 3 seconds maximum clock run-off
1 Xpt for score from the three YL, 2 Pts for Xpt score from the 10 YL

winners of these games play each other to advance to the "possible" final.
(see note below)

NOTE: Cowboys still undefeated- but could lose and play back to the final!

artlax 01-17-2011 02:25 PM

The action is...

continuing and wrapping up here on Martin Luther King Jr. Day...

The Patriots defeated the Red and Black 7-6
Each team scored one TD on their first possession and the Patriots accumulated more positive yardage on their 2nd poss.

The Seahawks outscored the Jets 14-6
Seahawks scored a TD on each possession - Jets failed to score on their 2nd poss. (sorry Jets fans)

Now the Patriots are taking on the Seahawks for the right to play the Cowboys in the final!!!

it appears that you well wishes helped...:)

as the Patriots defeated the Seahawks 13-6 to advance to the final against the Cowboys.

NOTE: The Cowboys have yet to lose, so since this is a double elimination tournament if the Pats beat the Cowboys they will have to play a second time to determine the champion!

It happened...

the Patriots defeated the Cowboys 12-0 to set-up a rematch for the championship - Because the Cowboys loss was their first and this is a double elimination tournament.

The Cowboys could just not shake loose from the Patriots defenders - when they did the passing lanes were horrible.

Here are a few pics of the action.

And it's done...

and Patriots fans have something to celebrate as the New England took down the Cowboys 14-13 for the championship.

Overall it was a lot of fun - got in plenty of passing practice - got a good look at the performance of the bases on our teams (and which ones need work).

mark robin 01-19-2011 12:09 AM

darn, i was goin for Da Boys.

artlax 01-19-2011 07:24 AM

I thought they...

would take it too after rolling all the way to the final without a loss!

But in the first game against the Pats the "Boys receivers could not get open.

In the second game - they scored on both possessions - but on the 2nd extra point attempt to tie the game they once again could not shake loose in the time allotted.
