SO EVERYONE FINALLY MET VINCE PEATROS
COACHES,
I hear vince is the master. I read ken allen thoughts on meeting him. Who else met up with vince and did he teach you anything ? Im almost sure many have some thoughts mantaradre |
I did get to meet Vince, and while I didn't talk too much shop with him (wish I had, I need the knowledge), I can say he was a heck of a guy and couldn't have been cooler to everyone in the convention hall. I made sure to seek him out before I left to let him know it was a true pleasure to meet him.
To Vince's credit, everyone wanted some of his time to say hello, talk EF, look at tweaking, etc. I watched Vince tweak bases, and take the time to talk to everyone who wanted some of that time. That's my only impression of him, because that's the first time I've met him. So the cat is way cool in my book. Ed wnnrcgr shkthbx: $br# |
Vince
So sorry I missed the chance, but I'm sure he and I will break bread at some point down the road. I can only justify 2-3 trips a year to EF and I decided to play in an out of town league this year (Great Lakes) so Miggle wasn't in the cards.
Am very glad Vince made it out to Miggle and got to hang with the guys and have some fun! When Vince and I have talked or emailed he's always been total class and I've enjoyed the dialogs. Good for you, VP - glad you put yourself out there and hope it is one of many to come. |
Met Vince
All I can say right now(have to go to work) is I met Vince and had a chance to talk to him. A very good conversation and experience. Will post more later.

Dre..
When I was in high school ..I was a wild dude. I would get A's and B's and then wild out to offset the good.mgngcrz I was about to get expelled and before it was a done deal, a teacher who loved me like a son.(Mrs.Janet.Obzit)..handed me a book on self improvement. In the book she wrote ".....When the student is ready the teacher appears...." (thats what stuck with me the most):D years later it all made since...fast forward 2011. I believed I had a reasonable foundation on:twkr: having sat down with many:twkr: legends in the game and having recieved bases as well. To sum it up...it was another great lesson in base tweaking:twkr: and all of the great tweakers are teachers in this hobby...Vince continued the "teach a man to fish...." philosophy as so many have done for us prior to meeting him. So as a continuous student of the game..One of the greatest EF Scholars came down to teach and as a student with others we sat in on the class...now we must all share that information and help advance our fellow classmates as well as share the information with our other teachers for we are all students of the game and as we evolve...we must stand before the class and teach eachother, therefor, becoming the teacher that will always remain a teachable student....:twkr: :twkr: :twkr: :twkr: :twkr: :twkr: :twkr:

Just so you guys know
Vince got choked up from all the love, we were alone when this happened, he tryed to hide it, ( I even gave the guy a big man kiss on the jaw, he let out a gasp of air from me hugging him to tight) LOL, I'm so happy he took my advice from the last 4 years, he finally now knows that coaches like him alot, he has been caring some major pain for over 10 years guys, thinking coaches didn't like him, I kept telling him, please come out and let coaches come to you for your advanced knowledge of the game and love of teaching, just sit with coaches and talk with them, let them see you for who you are, not for what others say about you, I myself thought he was a bad guy years ago (from here say), but when he came here in 06 and stayed a week, all that changed real quick, I saw him for what he really is, a beautiful guy to be around, I'm so excited now that he don't have this unwanted weight on his shoulders, he can now fully enjoy the hobby and coaches that WANT to learn and play, the guy has a BEAUTIFUL MIND for this game.
P.S. I sure would love to see Vince back on the boards. Norbert Revels |
Great Guy......awesome abilities
Hey Dre, we missed ya bro! I had the opportunity to spend some time with Vince and his buddy, Barry. Great guys and I actually had Vince's Michigan State Spartans on my board doing a little scrimmaging.
Check this out- Vince and Ken Allen, hanging out in my room talking MF and demonstrating what can be done with bases and figs. Had a great weekend and that was one of the highlights! Vince is a great guy and a thought here would be to give him a second chance on this forum! He offered to me and many other coaches his time, to come on up to room 610 for some base tweaking sessions and trade secrets revealed. I also think his mission was to meet all of us and enjoy the weekend with his true brothers in the game.ppls$ ppls$ |
VINCE BACK ON THE BOARD
COACHES,
for whatever reason vince has been banned from this board, THE DECISION SHOULD BE OVER TURNED FIRST AND FOREMOST. BECAUSE, we woke up morning and he was gone. Now that we are FULLY AWAKE, PUT HIM BACK ON. A life time ban is a little harsh for the small community we have. But a life time ban should apply to those who have stolen money from the community or one who has physically assaulted another ef member. im hearing nothing but good things about vince which is causing me to wonder, what the h e double hockey sticks happened so bad to cause this. Alot of coaches bicker back and forth on the board from time to time. Whatever was said, at least it was said in the open instead of hiding behind pm's and cell phones like some do. PUT HIM BACK ON THIS CHAT BOARD. I know the bylaws are bylaws but this needs further investigation and explanations. It is quite strange once the coaches have met him they see, A GREAT GUY. MANTARAYDRE |
So right Norbert.
I tweaked with him and came away realizing that our biggest problem in the hobby is "judgement by others". He toils endlessly in his basement perfecting all kinds of tricky bases. The most profound memory I have was when we were in a room with a couple of other coaches and he pushed a guys player. The coach placed his man down, Vince placed his man opposite him. The board was turned on. The noseguard Vince placed on the field dropped into the flat with the precision that suggests months of work on that one guy. As soon as the board was turned on Vince sheepishly said, "Sike", like a kid playing a clever trick on a friend. It was funny to all but provided insight to who he really is. He's sensitive, caring, and supportive. Again, so great to have the opportunity to see what I suspected.
Keep your ideas Vince and find only the sponges who will both learn from you and give you credit you deserve. I did notice that validation is important to him. Here is a guy that loves the game so much that he didn't place a price tag on his time or his talent although I clearly heard or saw people offer him money or tips for his time. I have never seen a person so uncomfortable with being offered money. He has the ability to do both but no, his validation is merely showing you the level that the game could be taken. Just my thoughts. |
That noseguard thing was . . .

A Icon
Ken Judgement by others is what really sticks out to me from what you said and I totally agree with you. Those same people who judges Vince has serious issues themselves. Saying that we dont realize this is just a hobby and I don't need you to give me a kidney or something to that affect. I just need to fellowship with you in a adult, mature like way to enjoy something we are sharing. All the personal blast we have in this community needs to stop and lets enjoy each other for the short time we have. Since I have been in Vegas Vince has opened up his home treated me like a brother and has shared his knowledge and information on EF FREELY! This man is a Icon in EF and I myself is glad you guys had a chance to meet this coach.

3-0 AGAINST VINCE PEATROS
I JUST WANT ALL OF YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM 3-0 AGAINST VINCE PEATROS!! YOU HEARD ME 3-0.
I talked to him three different times and made him laugh all three times. He's LUCKY I didn't see him more! I would have made him laugh even harder! ;) Oh wait............ hold on.................. I think he's laughing now............. better make that 4-0!:D It just goes to show you that a message board can be a good or bad thing. It's great when you can meet people and share but it can hinder relationships if you let it get to you. Like on the movie Cars at the end of it when that VW bus character says, "There's a lot of love out there man." RAIDERMAN ;) |
2011 Miggle convention - and Vince
I had the opportunity to meet Vince at the first Dallas Shoot-out (1995?) and Dirk and Vince were friends. I remember reading the posts and call-outs east and west of the mississippi.
I had a marvelous time at the Miggle Convention this year and when I heard Vince was there I looked forward to crossing his path - and was not disappointed! - except when he said he wasn't there to play. Vince was always a major talent in my book and I am very happy he shared some of it with us. Joyce Rogers |

WHAT'S TYHE VERDICT.
COACHES,
wHAT BETTER ENDORSEMENT can you get than a post by the LOVELY "JOYCE ROGERS " another icon in our hobby. Who all have to utmost respect for. It seems, 2 different portraits have been painted over time. WHICH ONE SEEMS TO BE THE MOST BELIEVABLE ? Get your coffee and read this entire thread. peatros got on a plane and showed up. WHEN SOME THOUGHT VINCE WAS JUST A LOUD MOUTH GHOST. Is he still the ghost others whispered in your ear, privately. more coming. It is not by accident that many see vince as the ultimate tweaker and player. Now that casper showed up, bill murray can stop looking for him. he could have come to columbus and shared nothing, but i hear he shared everything. If it is personal with vince outside of electric football, that can be fixed also. Is it worth losing someone of his value. All you have to do is play him, not marry him. Its amazing how some still have strength to push someone away after losing alot of blood from the multiple knives that were planted in their backs. THE REAL GHOST PUT THEM THEIR. The story of joe greco going to his house and coming back impressed up the wazu, what does that tell you. EVERYBODY LOVES JOE GRECO. WHAT GIVES HERE, COACHES WANT VINCE RE-INSTATED ON THIS CHAT BOARD. SOMEONE WAS TAKEN FROM US WHO WE COULD LEARN A GREAT DEAL FROM. AND HE IS STILL ALIVE !!!!!!!!!! WHATS THE VERDICT, ONCE AGAIN ????????????? MANTARAYDRE |
Vince thinks about this game on a a completely different level. As impressive as his tweaking skills are (and they are immense), it is his strategies and overall intellectual approach to coaching EF that impressed me the most.
Now, I did meet Vince at that first Texas Shootout, but was just wowed by our recent conversation. I cannot wait...ok, on second thought I better wait to play him...he would KILL me now!!! When I improve my team a little and my skills quite a bit, then I definitely want to play this guy!!! Vince, good meeting you again buddy...let's do it sometime before another 15 years pass us by! Mark |
Impressed!
Not that my opinion matters but the man I met at Miggle is not the man others have portrayed him to be. What a nice guy.
It was a huge pleasure meeting him. thmbsp$ Don "detroitchild" Lang |
Vince the person....
I am glad that everyone finally got to see what i have had the Honor to be apart of for 4 years now...the real honest Vince Peotros.
I remember the first time i met him, I was at Bill Porche's house and had just completed my first team... i was proud of them and was fooling around with bill running some plays when Vince came over with his son. He asked if i wanted to play some so i said sure and put em up there.....well to make a real long story short... he killed me... was not even close... that team i had built was weak, slow, and clumsy compared to the team vince was running. But here is the thing that i am glad happened, and will never forget...... instead of laughing at me, ( we did laugh, but it was funny to see my team get "escorted to thier own endzone" by his whole O line and running back) instead of belittling me or saying sorry kid... he simply looked me in the eyes and asked me DO YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW I DO THIS ? when i said yes he said be at my house on saturday and i will show you how to tweek... now it is 4 years later and the teaching still continues...... I give a BIG THANK YOU to Vince... he took a enthusiastic hobbiest and made a top level competitive coach out of him, much to the dismay of the other coaches here..... but thats a whole nother story. Thank You Vince.... and as long as your Garrage is open i will Always keep showing up as a student, and a friend. |

Vince has always been good to me, with conversations of the future of EF and business strategy's. Not sure, but I believe his figures speak louder than his bases. How many were able to see his Spartans?
An all out unreal built team. |
Anybody have pics of his team, Got a chance to meet Vince for a short period seemed down to earth to me. I hope he enjoyed Columbus.!

i just dont understand why people here DONT want his help at all...and i even get picked on for going to him to learn   but i am relativley new to the L.A.E.F.L and i dont really know all the past history between the league and Vince. I just know that there is bad Blood between them and it's a shame. but i will say this...(and i love that he does it this way too). when he shows me a new play or base etc... he SHOWS me how to do it...Walks me through the steps...then has ME do one for HIM and wont let me stop till i get it or get real close.... then he actually gives me "homework" and i have to re-create "X" amout of the new base before i can come back for the next lesson... thats how i have gotten so good so fast... he instilled the desire into me to get better and try to be the best i can be. But you guys got it ken...and i am glad ya'll got to pick his brain alittle... i guess i kinda take for granted that we live an hour from each other and we hang out alot.but believe me i know how lucky i am....and i am not ashamed to say that if it were not for the help Vince i would still be a sorry team and coach struggling to win 4 games a year instead of now being one of the top coaches in the league in only 2 years.... the credit all goes to him and his teachings.. |
No shame
hey rick, whats happening.
First off, how many guys in the hobby are like vince in the skills department. skills department on his level, NOT MANY ! Why does 99% of coaches who come in contact with vince come away stunned. THEY PROBABLY SAW SOME THING THEY NEVER THOUGHT WAS POSSIBLE. Instead of teaching you any particular style, he is showing you the basics on an extreme level so you can be great no matter where you go. from what im reading, vince seems to be a pure and bonified lombardi/belchik type of coach. IM GOING BY WHAT I AM HEARING. i guess many mis read him as a person who brags. what did ALI SAY IN HIS BOXING RANTS. " It aint bragging, if you can back it up. FROM WHAT IM READING, IT SEEMS HE IS BACKING EVERYTHING HE SAID UP. I say be thankful you have vince to consult with and to help you become a better coach. Why do this if you do not want to become a better coach. I love all the LA guys and im not sure what happened out their, but we all only have a short time to enjoy the game. Hope something gets worked out. Just remember rocky 3 when apollo took rocky back to the old gym and neighborhood to learn more of the basics and to get the eye of the tiger back. They became friends after that i recall. It's almost natural to bicker amongst peers, only because your in the same business. FROM WHAT IM READING, it sounds like he enjoys teaching what he knows to the people who did not cut class. I just hope someday things will be o k again on the westside. many more coaches are planning on coming to the open run in october, lets all just have fun. thanx mantaraydre |
Vince
Just after I arrived, I walked next door to rm 409 where some of the Mid-Ohio guys were playin.
Hoop immediately introduces me to Vince, did not expect that...1st chance I had, I asked him if he would help me learn a bit about his tweaking style. He don't know me from Adam and says no problem and tells me where he'll be. He was very kind, laid back, an excellent teacher and obviously he can tweak. I got the chance a second time when Vince invited me to a midnight tweak session in Mark K's rm. That was a great time being part of the question/answer between he and Mark. |
