To piggy back a bit ... and there's nothing earth-shattering about it certainly, but on this week's No Huddle Show on NFL Network, Primetime mentions the game at least.

I tell people the importance of ...
owning a stadium. It trumps anything in the game when you are trying to recruit people to play in a league. I have had 10 people call me since the interview yesterday asking if I had a league that they could join.
As much as we put into the figures and gameboards, I always can get pub whether it's football, baseball, NASCAR or whatever. I had shows set up with NBC, ABC, FOX and ESPN but they could not get out here because of snow (of all things). Everyone was buried in an avalanche of "little" snow. I knew I would be doing something special for Super Bowl weekend and had prepared to do this for some time. The CBS reporter had several feature stories they were gonna have on this week but if you live in the DFW area, you will see that all that is on the news now is about the weather. So it was definitely an honor that CBS ran the feature story. The journalist told me they had a feature on a Packer fan in the DFW area that had memorabilia dating back to the the 20's for the Packers. He wanted to run that story. That Packer fan called me requesting a stadium after he had talked to the CBS journalist. The journalist told me they wanted to run the story nationally starting Friday and see what happened. He said, "Reg, I would have no problem if the other stations wanted to come by. I am just happy I got to you first and before the snowstorm stopped me". He did a lot of editing. I did speak of the MFCA site and the game as a whole. I did not talk about Footballfigure.net because of certain reasons. I subliminally showed my daughter's foundation, which was most important to me. Anytime I can get free advertisement about my foundation, whether it's MF or anything else, I will definitely do so. This was an opportunity. Corey, yes I do know folks in the media and I call on those sources from time to time but they also know, I've got little toys that not many people as cooky as I would have. I just know what will work in the game. I've preached it for so long (often to a deaf ear) but guys just think you are trying to show them up. Again, I've tried to share the secrets to no avail but I do know what works. It ain't the figures, it ain't the gameboards, it's the stadiums! That's just what I know. But again, if I say it, it comes with much backlash. Thanks to all for your kind comments. Reg |
well, if they edited the footage, the peice I saw did not reference anything.
We are always happy to see our beloved hobby shown in the proper setting. thanks again, RR |
Great job Reg. You remain an excellent ambassador to the game and an inspiration to all of us who enjoy building and tinkering with all aspects of the game. ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$

K-Lo, to be honest, the reason...
I did this video was not to promote the game - to be honest about it. But I know that whenever I can help, I will. The stations approached me. I had not thought twice about doing anything this Super Bowl weekend. But when CBS called and asked if I could do a feature story on the Super Bowl, I looked at it as a way to get my message out about my daughter's foundation.
I am not the photojournalist and I have no control over the questions asked and the direction of the piece. I just try to do the best I can to convey messages. What I was happiest over is that they did not treat the hobby in a derogatory way. I told the reporter how important that was to me. He said, "Reg, trust me, the stadium gives it instant credibility and people will not even think about the players running around in a circle". So you do what you can, first for your family, and lastly for things that take a backseat to what's important to you. That's just how I do it these days. I will say that I felt CBS did this piece some justice. Reg |
