Suggestions on Solitaire play

I'm thinking about having a college solitarie tournament. I have some great ideas, I'm just looking for more. I would like to keep the games at a hour and fifteen mins. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Butch

Hi Butch,

Few things you can do that might fit your time frame:

* Four 8-play quarters, no time outs to add plays.
* Two 30-minute (running clock except in last 2 minute) halves.
* Team that wins the toss gets the ball at their 20, each team gets three possessions.
* Set a clock for 75 minutes and whatever happens, happens. :D

What teams would you be using?

Try This

The MPFL System is very good for solitaire play. Check out the web site.

College Timing

NCAA doesn't have 2-minute timing or do they?

no, they don't. the clock keeps running. maybe if it's college rules that you are looking for, then within the final 2 minutes of each half, the clock can be stopped with a first down, and restarted once the next play is set up.

Test run

Well men, I had a test run last night Aubrun beats Maryland 23 to 14. I played the game in 1hour and 22mins. I will list my rules of play later. I'm to busy to type them out at this time. Overall it went very good. I think I can get the games under a hour and 15 min. The best thing was I had fun and the action was fast.

I really just suggested the 2-minute thing so that the original poster could get more than 1 or 2 plays off at the end of the game - it really wasn't based on hard, fast college rules.

It's OK to think outside the box.

I use play count 60 plays agame change ends after 15 for quarter usuakly done in alittle over hour. Run mostly pass with sticks on 3 and long punts are 40 yards. Anything you can add to keep game fun.

When I get home, I'll see if I can find and post the solitaire rules set that I developed about 5 years ago that so many people have asked me for.

Always flexable

When we go to tournaments or conventions they always place league champions in some classification for rankings. I wonder why they don't do something for solitaire champions. Heck, I won my solitaire league two out of three years.
