Old Frosty Bases

Anyone have any comments on the "Old Frosty" bases Miggle is currently selling?

Just wondering if anyone wishes to comment on them, their tweakability, their performance, etc...

I was itching for some new bases and those are about the only ones I have not bought from Miggle.

Any feedback?

The New Frostoes that miggle makes now ARE CRAPPY, they used a different plastic than the old frosties and it is too brittle.
Good thing I have a boat load of old Frosties.

Boil Them

The frosty bases are excellent for boiling. They are brittle because enough silicon wasn't used during the manufacturing process. If you boil them, the base will get the oil that it needs to become soft. I know that base boiling is taboo in this hobby. It is forbidden. I like it.

NOS Frosty's

Shabby,
I don't know everything ,but I know something! The Old new Frosty's are good. They require a staedy hand and some patience, but all of my speedsters are on the TTC'c and Double clip frosty's! I've had a lot of success with them. I aslo like the blue TTC's and the proline straight front's for speed! They work for me!$br#

I agree Tron, I tweaked a few frosty rookies lately that are pretty darned fast.

OK, back to boiling, the current frostys may not boil up as good as the older ones from several years back, that seems to be the general comment I am hearing.

My question now is this, should I waste my time boiling the current frostys or not?

kotixblack 03-08-2008 06:54 PM

I would not waste my time boiling the new frosties...

J,
I would not waste my time boiling the new frosties. You will end up destroying the majority of them, and the few that do survive will schrivle like prunes. Maybe we can bring a microwave to the next Open Run and give a demo on what happens when trying to boil various bases. LMK

Thanks E, I am dropping this idea. After talking in depth at the Run with you on this and you reaffirming that it's a waste of time I am done with it. Some coaches have said they are boiling them, but I know the real deal, I have seen it first hand.

I got my emery board though and have been using it on my bases.
