A Quick Tight End Formation Question, Can You

LINE UP TWO TIGHT ENDS ON THE LINE SIDE BY SIDE OF EITHER TACKE

IE,( ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ TE TE) OR ( TE ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ TE) " BOTH FORMATIONS REQUIRE NO RECEIVERS ON THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.

I just read this in a playbook and i want to make sure this can be done in our leagues and tourney's.

Before someones say's you must have a receiver on the line, playbook reads (NO YOU DONT)

IS THIS LEGAL AND IF NOT WHY

Dre,

The first formation you have would be illegal. The tackle on the left needs to be covered by a receiver. The second formation is legal, with the 2 TE's covering the LT and RT.

In the NFL all Tackles must be covered by a receiver. Also note that "full house" backfields are not legal under the TSO rules.

The firsr formation would be legal if you had a wide receiever on the line.

the rule is 7 men on the line of scrimmage, tackles covered with an ELIGIBLE receiver. the first formation is probably illegal in most leagues and tourneys, but if you called that the left tackle was eligible, then he would be the eligible receiver on the end of the line. that would, however, make the tight end on the inside ineligible.
the second formation is perfectly legal, tight ends are eligible receivers.

I am in agreement with the other replies in that ONLY the second formation is legal.

Technically Speaking...

...they are both legal IF...
  1. You declared the LT eligible, making the inside TE on the right ineligible, and
  2. IF your league or Tourney allows a Fullhouse Backfield, and
  3. IF you're a victim on my FIGHTING ILLINI'S Schedule this year!!!

IF you didn't and they don't and you're not, then everyone here is correct! thmbsp$ :rtfl: lffng$

jIMBO,

If the left tackle is claimed as eligible on the first formation, i do not have to put the wr on the line on scrimmage on the left or right sides

IS THAT CORRECT ? ALL RECEIVERS CAN BE 4 TO 5 YARDSD OFF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAG

in that setup, with the left tackle eligible and the tight end on the line, you do not put receivers on the los.

Under the BAM rules you can't have a Fullhouse Backfield

is your definition of a full house back field 3 running backs lined up within the tackles? can you run a wing T?

(WR).............(T G C G T).(TE)
.............(WB).....(QB)...........(WB)

7 On The Los

As long as you have your 5 OL and 2 WRs or TEs on the LOS on opposite sides of the Center, THAT satisfies "7 men on the LOS." thmbsp$

IF this is a specific SWB question, "Any receiver not on the line of scrimmage must be at least 1 yard and no more than a base length off of the line of scrimmage (most downfield portion of their base)."

IF it is not, then refer to your specific League Rules ie Mr. FF. :D ;)

andre kc 04-22-2008 01:02 PM

Yes! that's the shoot out rules

In MY playbook, Chris, what it looks like you referred to was what I call a "FlexBone": two WBs just outside the OTs. That is legal in ALL Leagues that I am aware of. What usually happens (IN REAL LIFE) is one of those WBs goes into motion behind the FB and the QB hands-off the rock like a Lead Power Run. thmbsp$

The 2nd pic is a true Wing-T with 3 Running Backs in the backfield. This formation is prohibited in most Leagues that I know of.

The difference between legal and not legal is: IF they are to be considered WRs, then they must be outside of the OTs and no further than a base-length off the LOS. Between the OTs and in the backfield is usually deemed an illegal formation.

Cool beans? thmbsp$

cool. i've been told that the formation that i posted has various names, flexbone, double wing, wing t, etc. but yes, the explanation of how you run it is pretty close to how i know to run it. the main difference is the wingback motions in front of the fullback to receive the handoff for the sweep. from this, you can also dive the fullback, run a reverse with the other wingback, option, waggle the qb or bootleg the qb.

fun stuff!ppls$

Gotta Love College Football!!!

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but IMHO I think I am the ONLY one that allows anything and everything that they do in the NCAA to be done in Jimbo's Annual (except 2008) Miniature College Football Championship Tournament. Coming next January!!!

I allow angles, motions, fullhouse, options, dives, sweeps, hail mary's, reverses, hb option passes, fob and abc tackles, strategy divider, action box and multi-stop!!!!!!!!! thmbsp$ ppls$ :chr:
