Life is something Special.....

Here I was saturday cracking plastic with my EF brothers, having a ballftbll$ . The next day balled up in a fetal position in the emergency room. Pain so excruciating while driving to the hospital I hoped for a Police Officer to pull me over so I could render help. The Creators plan was that I make it...so I did. Pain was so great I started sweating and was seconds from passing out. After a CT Scan and a MRI, diagnoses-kidney stone. I would'nt wish this on anyone. The most special part of it all was after the pain meds wore down and I woke up after literaly hearing myself snoring:eek: ....there was my wife and my 2 youngest babies.

Thank God I am home on 2 meds, forced to take a day off from work;) but Dr knows best. I share this to say that life is so very short and when we put things off they can come back on us 3 fold.

The irony is that I had mini pain sessions throughout the week, but I put them off as failures of my self medications(spicy foods, iced coffee therepy) until people that love me told me "when there is pain, there is a problem...go see a Dr" For the first time I listened...heck I am 38 and still think I am a practicing medical specialist:rtfl: :rtfl: . I laugh now but that pain was no joke:( . Now I must drink tons of fluids and wait for a 3cm(I believe he said that) passess. Thank God for humbling me and forcing a qick surrender or it could have grown larger, more painful, and a possible surgical procedure. My family now has me on a strict "water diet" but the room service has improved tremendouslythmbsp$ ppls$ . Just sharing with my EF family how my Sunday was spent.

Peace,
Coach Karim

My Man...

Glad you are OK. Fun one day, pain the next. You never know. But you were brave enough to take care of yourself and now you can recover.

enjoy the room service while you got it and ask your wife to put a small 510 board on the breakfast tray so you rock some MF in bed. aaahhh, get the breakfast later.:rtfl: :rtfl:

Feel Better thmbsp$

Take Care of Yourself

It's easy to say but sometimes hard to follow yourself.

Good to see that you are on bed rest. Ain't no tellin' what concocted plays you would be trying to come up with!:rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl:

Take care Coach and hope all is well!

Good to hear you are feeling better

Coach,

When you first said that on Sunday you were curled in a fetal position and in pain I thought that was from our scrimmage on Saturday :)

I'm happy you are feeling better - I'll talk to you soon.

ps (that may possibly be considered my first bit of trash talking - I kind of like it):)

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better...

I know the real relief will come a little later...:)

About 12 years ago I thought the pain I had was a stomach flu...laid in the fetal position all weekend.

By Monday morning (3 am) my wife was like "I am taking you to the hospital!".

I had a partial rupture of my appendix (they found out after it was removed 4 weeks later). I never felt so much pain in my entire life!

After I thought...If I was born even 50 years ealier, I would have probably died. Thank goodness for antibiotics and a higher power allowing me to stay here and have the opportunity to father 2 fantastic children!

The day to day stuff can get in the way of seeing the truth to life.

Sorry, you have to deal with this problem...but glad it made a positive difference in your life! thmbsp$

The Rookie 07-21-2008 10:23 AM

I know your pain, I had my first 20 years ago and thought I was a died man.
I want go into the full night mare of a story but they did have to go get it and you don't want that because when they are finished they have to pull that catheral out and that is a bad boy coming out . It felt like they pull it out for 10 min.
I have two more in the last two years but they are gone for now.
The Doc. told me to stop eating as much meat as I do and lay off the DR. Peppers . More water, less pain.
And it is the worstpain you can think of .I hope you ******** it out.
Good luck

I just woke up and all you brothers have me in tears....

The love is deep in the EF world. I have posted when other Coaches were ill, but to be on the other side and get the love....my eyes are watering(MAN TEARS:cool: ) Guys you are all real and reading your post made my daythmbsp$ thmbsp$ Joe.G the Jets:D :D :D find that hiding player he was there when you arrived and after the "sack" you started saying he was missinglffng$ You know the Buccs were just warming up for the season.thmbsp$ thmbsp$ It is always a pleasure when we hit the field, we take it to another level.

M.Downs I am in base tweaking heaven.thmbsp$ (Until the wife and kids wake up;) )

Again, I thank you all and I do hope this bad boy slides out, for I am not heavily into medicine, but Ibuprofen and Flomax is what has stopped that pain then yes, I will finish as prescribed. Dont know when the stone will pass but as long as the pain remains calm I am good.

I Know All About Stones

I've had two of those kidney stones, and I know your pain. Fortunately, you can pass yours. I have had 2 lithotripsies (where sonic waves are used to break the stones so you can pass them easily), for an 8mm and a slightly smaller stone. Take care, drink LOTS of water (also cranberry juice helps out, also).

stones

I used crown royal to pass mine

mantaraydre 07-21-2008 05:08 PM

glad you are feeling better

GMKC,

I had kidney stones removed two years, i was not pleasant. I hoping they don't return. listen carefully

Have your family go to the store and buy crystal light lemonade it has something in it called CITRATE to help dissovlve the stones. I drink it everyday for lunch and in the mornings. THANK GOD THEY HAVE NOT COME BACK. My doctor put me on to this method. lemonade is the best stuff for you. But the krystal light is the greatest due to the citrate. GO AND GET IT TONIGHT IF YOU CAN AND DRINK AT LEAST 5 BOOTLES OF IT A DAY. JUST DRINK THAT AND WATER TO HELP FLUSH THEM OUT. ALSO, NO MORE CHOCOLATE AND ICED TEA. THOSE ARE THE WORST TWO THINGS FOR YOU.

KRYSTAL LIGHT LEMONADE, GO GET IT NOW!!!!!!!

I drink that stuff morning & evening almost without fail. I have a lot of stomach problems and it usually calms me down unless I have to much. then it can be all bad. (I'm gettin kinda thirsty right now). I hope you are relieved of that pain soon. Keepin you in the prayer list.

Hi Coach Karim,

Greetings to you my friend. Yes life is something special and I am glad that you are home and that you did not end up having surgery. I have heard horror stories about what you experienced and do my best to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and sometimes more. Never take those many pains for granted and by all means don't try to play doctor. Drinking a lot of water never hurt anyone so try and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I also was introduced to a healthcare drink back in January and I drink that on a daily basis as well. I will send you a PM and tell you about it.

Have a good day and I am glad you are home.

Coach J

My EF Family....

Thanks for all the warm and hilarious messages...you made me feel much better. I used the 2 days off as prescribed by the Dr. I am going in Wednesday (Gods Will) and I cant wait to get back to the kids and ref some EF games. Thanks to all my Brothers in Buzz and thanks for the calls...( N1 I have to get a global telephone network to complete my calls with you:rtfl: Thanks for the call meds knocked me out anyway). I am feeling good just anticipating the thought of the stone passing thru:eek: . I took advise picked up Citrate and Crystal lite. Man my strength came from the brotherhood of my fellow Coaches and the love in my household. Brothers you have all proved that we can all support eachother no matter where we are and what we are going through. This EF World we share is greater than just the Buzz of the board and the plastic menthmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$
