|
I've given up. Last I checked the game was out of stock and it will be a cold day in Hell when they have teams up for order. What a shame. What was the NFL thinking?
|
Last I heard was...Excalibur Teams are due...
to be released in Sept, or early Jan. 2009.

      it was supposed to be in march, then august, now next year

I know...but I would just be patient. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and thinking positive. They may actually be doing research to improve their product. I just feel that we are fortunate to have a company invest in our hobby...with the resources ($) to maybe produce some of the items we have been craving (biger boards that run consistently, figures, bases etc;) at an affordable price. Remember, they sold out of product during the Xmas Season. Most companies are satisfied by meeting their sales expectations for the Holiday seasons. I'm sure all manufactures of EF/MF know that there are only a few die hards, and that most are excited to receive a game board Xmas morning...after that, the game is seldom touched again, that is why you can find so many boards averaging 30yrs. old that are link new on ebay, and at garage sales. Most are not willing to put in the time to learn how to tweak, they just expect the players to play football out of the bag. That is all we can expect from an 8 yr. old (the targeted age for EF/MF sales). We should consider ourselves lucky that Miggle, & Excalibur actually takes an interest in what the hobbiest has to say, and actually tries to please us...a small segment of who they actually sell to.
|
wow... great post. when i first bought this game (viberating football borad) i didnt know about tweaking and stuff, so i figured thats why you dont see many peopl playing today. then i found this website. and i now know how to tweak( but am still learning, kind of) and customize (i love doing that) and soon will make my first team (2008 colts team)
a question: i have never used any board other than the viberating football board, so how does it stach up compared to the others? |
thanks benster :)
|
maybe you're right but explain me why Excalibur take out the liscencing from Miggle which was established as a good company of MF/EF product and they didn't give us the merchandise??
If they don't deliver or doesn't want to give the product which they we're promised to us, please give it the liscencing to Miggle. Anyway, we don't have any choices that to wait and see Benster |
i really dont like the excalibur bases, please tell me the miggle ones are better. cuz im gonna order some of them
|
you're right..
Miggle have definitely the best bases (rookie bases) available in large quantity
Benster |
what about TTC bases?
|
I know...
...what we can do. How about a letter from MFCA, an organization that represents almost 200 coaches, politely asking Excalibur what are the plans for their products and that there are a couple hundred (perhaps a stretch but work with me) MF enthusiast eagerly awaiting to hear from them. The idea of an organized market share looking to do business should get anyone to swing into action or at least become more responsive to our inquiries. If MFCA can't do it for whatever reason then how about letters/emails from all the league's around the country. I'm tellin' ya...organization and a united front is the key.thmbsp$

i'm in...
Totally agree with you my friend. We do the same thing for Stiga table hockey (with has the NHL liscencing) and now, the painting are a waaaayyyy much better

I'm in
concur 100%!
|
who needs em.........
I am sure everyone has an opinion, but I was NOT impressed with Excalibur's products. I believe the members of the MFCA can do better
MFCA Inc.? hmmmmmm |
Who needs em?
I DO!
Always looking for something new, and appreciate their efforts. Here I go with my rant! Boilable Bases...who needs em...I do. Miggle Bullet Bases...who needs em...I do. We always talk about what is positive, and what is considered negative on this board. I think that every one should be able to express his/her view or opinion. The thing that erks me the most about coaches on this board is that they like to ban what they can't compete with, or whine and cry...putting pressure on companies (Miggle) until they stop producing products that some coaches like, but the majority of coaches dislike. I find it very irritating that all if the products that have been discontinued sell for astronimical amounts on ebay. Why is that? So many coaches who post on this board have quotes from famous people attached to their posts as a signature. Maybe we should adhere, and apply those quotes to our own actions. We have to grow up and let go of that mentality of "It's my ball, if you don't do it my way, I will take my ball and go home". I don't think this hobby has or will have a place in the main stream until we stop being so critical of different sytles of play, weights, your way -V- my way, and manufacturers...expecially new manufacturers. |

The more the merrier!
I respect that opinion but my take is that the more manufacturers the better. And if we address those manufacturers in a unified manner then everyone can win. If Excalibur's products don't excite us then let's tell them why in a UNIFIED manner. Let's approach it as a partnership as oppose to us against them. We can easily say "Listen Mr. Miggle, Excalibur, ACME Inc, etc., we like these particular products of yours but product A can be improved. Here are some recommendations from our membership...." Give them a chance. Heck, Miggle is responding to our dislike of the Proline bases made in China. I think that had something to do with them moving the equipment back to the U.S.A. They are working with several coaches in trying to get the formula for those bases just right. Excalibur probably have no idea that tweaking a base is a big part of this hobby and that's why they should improve them.
Or...the association can try it's hand at manufacturing these products. Just my 2 cents worth. |
Do it yourself
Again its just and opinion, but for as long as the fab five has been out there, I would have expected something more than just subtle variations of what was there already. And why shouldn't we the consumer, expect more?
I think we can and should. For years now coaches in this hobby have been creating their own figures or customizing commercial figures, and the results have been awesome. I just got some ITZ figures this weekend from way back, detailed, balanced, performers, AWESOME. I woud be willing to bet that if you took ANY of their figures painted and compaired it to an excalibur figure the average football fan would favor the ITZ firure hands down. And they have been around for years. ITZ, George Diamnond, Reginald Rutledge, Dwayne Jennings,(and now Chris Fields) and others all have produced HIGH QUALITY products that have stood the test of time. I believe they were successful because they ARE COACHES and artist, creators who actually play the game. I believe that in the future the MFCA could procuce a Miniature football game that will have higher quality, bigger and more realistic than what has been mass produced to this point. |
Why not both!
I don't disagree with your point on the guys you've mentioned. I've done business with some and will continue to do so. But I think we can also take advantage of the big guys as well. I believe there is room for all of them.
|
This is what I am talking about....
Why can't we buy a MF set and get teams that look this good?
![]() expect more!! |
WOW!!!! No problem with that...and i know what you mean because i'm working to put on sale a custom hockey game which players will move by the way of ball bearing puck bases and i'm working with some big table hockey companies (who already have NHL liscencing) to make this game work. We're at the beginning of the process but so far, it is very positive. But between you and me, how much it will going to cust to get this game as well as all the NFL teams (2 sets of 11 players, one offense and 1 defense)? me personnaly i'm willing to pay between 800-1000$ to get all this but is all the coaches are willing to pay all that money?
Please give me your feedback Benster |
That's great!
But Steve, how many people start off at that level. Me, I'll attempt to get a lot of the customized stuff but most newbies are buying a Miggle board and figures. Some are satisfied at that point while some move on to big boards and customized teams. I believe that there should be manufacturers of ALL stripes to address every level of hobbiest. As I stated...the more the merrier!

There seems to be a NEED for some fine dining in this hobby. With so much talent within the MFCA it just seems a waste that we can't pool some of it together and come up with someting of our own that's really fantastic. Its something I would like to see in the future... we have some nice MFCA products now, and the sideline crews are looking awesome. I am optimistic that in the near future, the MFCA will actually produce a MF board and/or figures.... This is my vision for the future. :) |
Sweet Titans!
I too hope that one day soon manufacturers will be able to produce teams as sweet as your Titans. I'm just saying...give the new company time to grow. Let them walk before they begain to run. I know that I will not pay $500-$1000 for a board. That is somewhere around the going price for a customized game board from members of the MFCA. Also, I recall certain members (MPLSTOM) having a problem getting his product after forking over funds. I just don't think it is a good idea to knock a company who is trying to satisfy the hobbiest, when the goal in business is to make the quick dollar, then abort mission. I think we are a blessed group. The fact that we have the interest of Excallibur & Miggle is an accomplishment in itself. Miggle tried to bring back the 620, and I'm sure they lost lots of $, but they tried. If Excallibur does improove their players, bases, and game boards...will they get praise, or will jealousy, and envy raise their ugly heads? If Miggle makes a funtional board...will we praise it, or judge it harshly?

i agree with the vision of Treks, never been more served by himself but also, i'm willing to give Excalibur a chance...

Advancement
I don't know, it just seems to me that if you can't improve on what's out there already, then why get involved in it at all. Scientific and other advancement build upon the discovery or technology of its previous generation. I would like to have seen excalibur do more market research and perhaps a little R & D before then entered our hobby. New products should be an advancement and an improvement over the current model. Perhaps ten (10) years from now they will have figures, bases or boards as good as what some peolple are making today. Let's all be patient and wait. Nothing but time here......
Coaches have developed better products on their own. I for one will continue to support these "independents", BB, RR, and ITZ because they have earned it by producing high quality products. |
wow, these are all very great posts thmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$

I hear ya Treks1 but...
as you stated, we are merly 200 and that is pushing it. If Excllibur can reach millions, and recoup the funds they invested, then make some...I think it is a wise business move to do things the way they are doing them. After all, they did sell out of stock. This is the reason I'm saying that we are fortunate to have them pay any attention to us (200 -V- millions). What would the average person do if put in the position of Excallibur...I think they would take the money and run, never looking back or paying attention to us.
I totally overstand what you are saying about supporting FF.org, Buzz, and getting a product that is the calibre of our level of play, etc;, but I must agree w/D-Child...let the manuf. do what they do, and let MFCA do what it does. |
Good post, nice debate by everyone involved.
I would also like to mention that an Excalibur base and figure combo won the strength competition out here in So Cal once. Now, don't tell me that does not say something positive about their products. Put in the work, experiment and tweak their stuff, you will be impressed if you take the time. Their TTQB is also better than the current Miggle one's. Another thing, Miggle pickled right up where Tudor left off and then eventually added some new things to their line. Excalibur jumped right in with new stuff for the MF coach right off the starting line, they didn't just create another cookie cutter stamped steel field a la Tudor and Miggle. Give them a break! You know what, even though there is a lot of stuff I don't like being made and sold by companies in this hobby, I still buy it, because the investment I make today in a company/manufacturer will pay off one day in stuff that I do like. Just support them now for what they may do for you in the future. |
I stand corrected....
I have ben educated. Perhaps I have a narrow view of what moving forward in the hobby is, especially when it comes to bases.
|

What we can do!
- Promote our leagues, tournaments, games, etc... as much as possible.
- Work with each other to make EVERY play day, bash, tournament EXCELLENT. Entertaining - no petty bickering - good food. - Play in high visibility places (malls, etc..) and show what we are doing is fun!! - Represent good competition and good fellowship. - Reach out to the youth (we are doing that in the CNYEFL) and teach them, share. - Tie in with other local football events - even if just a scrimmage demo at a local Pop Warner/Youth event. I could go on - but things like this will draw more to our game and create a larger market for companies/manufacturers to produce for. |
chiming in
I agree with Shabby J. I went to JC Penney as soon as I knew about the new set and bought one, no questions asked. In fact, I buy everything from everybody. Supporting this hobby in every venue is the ticket. Besides, I like the variety of having different stuff.
I buy both the worst and the best there is! LOL! Now that's support! :rtfl: ppls$ |
