Who Will Win The 2009 Super Bowl

Greetings to all of my fellow coaches in MF. I hope that all of you are doing well.

The NFL 2008 Season is upon us and the question is who will walk away with the Lombardi Trophy this year. If recent history stays true to from the winner will come form the AFC. Before I give you my winner here are some things to look at from recent history regarding the Super Bowl champions.

The 2004 Steelers, 2005 Colts, 2006 Chargers, and 2007 Patriots have two things in common. 1) They were the top seeds from the AFC and 2) None of them won the Super Bowl.

In 2004 Peyton Manning broke the record for most TD passes in a season and won league MVP. In 2005 Shawn Alexander broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. In 2006 LaDainian Tomlinson broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. In 2007 Tom Brady broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. What do these players have in common. There teams did not win the Super Bowl.

The Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2006, the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2007, and the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2008. What do these teams have in common. They all played Wild Card weekend.

The Pats won the Super Bowl in 2005, the Steelers in 2006, the Colts in 2007, and the Giants in 2008. What do they have in common. There teams wore white jerseys when they won the Super Bowl.

Finally the Colts and Giants won the last two Super Bowls. What do they have in common. The MVP for the Colts and Giants had the last name Manning.

So who will win the 2009 Super Bowl. As I mentioned earlier if recent history holds true the winner will come from the AFC because the AFC team will wear white jerseys in the 2009 Super Bowl. The Steelers have a scheduled that is far TOO difficult to give them either a #1 or 2 seed in the playoffs. Then again it might be good for them looking at recent history. The Chargers have talent but the knees of Philip Rivers, LT, and Shawn Merrimam concern me. Yes that brings us down to the Colts and Pats again. I am not sure about the knees of Manning or Harrison and the foot Dwight Freeney and shoulder of Bob Sanders. That leaves the Pats and Brady's foot. I think he is healthy and think the Pats will win the 2009 Super Bowl. Who will they play. I am going out on a limb and say the Eagles. If an NFC team wins the 2009 Super Bowl it will be the Cowboys. Why ? The NFC gets to choose the jerseys for the 2009 Super Bowl and the Cowboys play better in there white jerseys. However, I don't like the Pats but think they will win the Super Bowl. Who do you pick ?

Coach J

my choice for this year will be...

Dallas (in white) over the San Diego Chargers by 10

Surprise team this year: Watch Minnesota

Dissapointment team: Da Pats (******** i hate them!!!)

Here's my 2 cents

Benster from north of the border....who also said that my beloved Alouettes will win the Grey Cup this year

detroitchild 09-02-2008 08:10 PM

I think it will be the Colts and the Cowboys. Sleepers....Jags and Philly.

TVsCHACHI 09-02-2008 08:18 PM

It's hard for me to make predictions, they usually end on their ears or arse mgngcrz

so...with that said...

I am excited to watch the JETS this year,
the VIKINGS,
the CHARGERS,
and of course

THE STEELERS

I ALWAYS pick Cleveland. Someday, I'll be right.

FrustratedFinFan 09-02-2008 11:40 PM

I agree with Ben....Cowboys over Chargers in the Super Bowl....but I predict a close, high scoring affair!!

I will be pulling for McNabb and Philly though....the window of opportunity for that team is about to shut.

daghstrydr 09-03-2008 08:46 AM

its a long shot but my beloved Dolphins shoudl do it:rtfl: :rtfl:

detroitchild 09-03-2008 08:56 AM

Actually, they have a MUCH better chance than my sorry home town team.

Prediction

Here's my top 10 predictions sure to go wrong:

10. Giants won't make the playoffs.
9. Patriots will lose in the first round of the playoffs.
8. Peyton Manning gets hurt and doesn't finish the season.
7. Philip Rivers finally gets exposed for being a lousy QB and Norv Turner will get fired because the Chargers once again won't win.
6. By week 8 everyone in America will know who O'sullivan is.
5. Eagles suprise the NFC EAST and win the division.
4. Jaguars will get past the Colts in the AFC Souf.
3. Brady Quinn will quicky become the MAN in Cleveland.
2. Jets win the AFC EAST
1. The New Orleans Saints will play in the Super Bowl against the Steelers.

Biggest turn around: Da Rayda's. They'll surprise people this year and not because of how bad they are either. They're going to give the AFC West a run.

i believe that the osullivan that you are referring to is jt, and yes, given a chance, he could be a big name as a qb.

HOMER!!!
(takes one to know one.. lol)

kotixblack 09-04-2008 02:22 PM

A-EAST
PATS (tight race for second)
A-NORTH
BROWNS OR STEELERS
A-SOUTH
JAGS (Colts close 2nd)
A-WEST
CHARGERS - Norv Turner's lack of coaching skills will cost them again.

N-EAST
EAGLES (Possible SB contender)
N-NORTH
VIKES (Lack of good QB will cost them)
N-SOUTH
SAINTS (Possible SB contender) Falcons will do much better than expected
N-WEST
SEAHAWKS (Cards will finish a strong 2nd in Div)

*Romo will show that he is an average QB at best.
*Eli Manning will fizzle,& once again show his true colors (average QB at best).
*Hasslebeck will remain consistent, AVERAGE QB at best.

*My SB possibilities: BROWNS/JAGS OR PATS -V- EAGLES OR SAINTS

I'll keep mines short and sweet, we're taking it back to the 90's. Dallas Cowboys and 49ers in the NFC Championship, 49ers win conference championship and beat the Chargers in the Super Bowl trph: I'm hoping this will be my late Christmas present.

When it gets to this point of the season, the final 4, i start rooting for a good super bowl matchup. with that said, i would like to see

Philly vs Pitt
or
Zona vs Bmore.

The Penn. game will be a hard hittin, real football game.

The Arizona offense vs the Baltimore defense would be great to see who wins that battle.

Philly Bmore would also be hard hittin and interesting, but i think a Pitt matchup would be better.

so who do i like
Philly Pitt.
Arizona is that typical, almost every year team, that gets to the conference finals out of nowhere and becomes too much for them. Those cats have experienced losing for how many years? they cant just turn it around into superbowl. and if they do somehow, they will get blown out by either team, sorta like the falcons in the 90's with Chris Chandler at QB.

THink years from now when we look at back at the conference games,
ARIZONA CARDINALS. We all raise our eye brows and say, wow, where did that come from?
