When do you know you are hooked on EF?
 

I laughed all the way to work this morning thinking of a conversation I had with one of the local Coaches. We were talking about stuff I won on ebay and how hard it is not to bid. I said " I need to stop bidding for I keep winning even when I dont want to...I might get bitten by the EF bug".....he responded"...:rtfl: Coach..you already are":rtfl: :rtfl:
I thought about the many $$$ spent on bases, teams, travel to fellowship with other Coaches on game days, tourneys, phone calls overbidding, overpaying:rolleyes:, wanting those new tweakers, getting bases from the new tweaking sensation, getting bases from the tweak masters, 120 widetops or frosties is not enough,:eek: 400+ tweaked bases not being:eek: used isnt either:rtfl: :rtfl:playing a league game 3-5 in the am, the feeling of "dang" it's over:confused: when the clock indicates "0"..:D meaning that the rfr$ ..games really over:eek: , the need for another game, another play, another TD, another nice run, another nice pass, hours of conversation about the EF lifestyle, talking to regular folks as if they understand what a "looper" is:eek: dissapointed because your 4 year old son quit in the 1st quarter, your 11 year old daughter quit when the score was 21-0, your oldest son wont play at all :D the list go's on... etc. When did you know the :rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl: EF bug had bitten you? When did you know? When did you know when did you know that the electric Football bug had bitten you?

I knew when I was 12 years old and I had a job for a dollar a day to clean the local barbor shop .
Every penny that I could gather went to by new bases and teams .
I bought all 26 teams by the time I was 14.

But I really got hooked last christmas again
And I love it!!!!!!!!
And would you stop overbidding me on Ebay.
We need to have a system to buy on ebay so we dont drive the price up/

I think you know your addicted, when you watch your high school team play, and when the running back runs in circles you consider it normal.

Also when your outside in the yard and you hear buzzing, you start thinking of your electric football board instead of running away from a giant swarm of bees.

I just thought of another sign of being hooked....When you tweak a base until the last hour then go to sleep ...awaken before work to check the base for consistancy....before 7AM:D

...after spending waaaaay more time on this site then I should. When I'm out with friends and I can't wait to get back home to play EF. When I go to Home Depot/Lowes/Michaels often to see if I can purchase items to improve my EF experience. When I go to FF.com every few days to drool over items that I know I should not be buying right now. Did I mention that I spend waaaaay to much time on this site? When I'm constantly tweaking bases to get players to perform better. When reading the Tweak is more interesting then reading the daily newspaper. When I rather watch this hobby's supreme customizers create a better product then what we Detroiters see on the real gridiron every Sunday. When I day dream of some day building my own field from scratch and make it with as many bells and whistles that I can think of. When watching the ever important Presidential debates I get figety and want to go scrimmage a couple of my solitaire teams.

I did say that I spend way to much time on this site....right?

When you lie to your Wife about how much money you have invested in your team, board, bases , etc.......:chr:

I was hooked at the age of 4...but I am reminded today everytime I go into the grocery store and go down the utensil isle looking to see if I can use anything for my football stadium!

It is amazing what can be used for this hobby with just a little imagination...

Yep, I can vouch for all this. I've gone so far as to spend 10 years building a company and taking it public just to support my outrageous MF spending habit! LOL! Yes, it really is what drives my business! I'm even so bold now as to show investors my EF websites and I'm even getting one into this hobby! How's that for going bananas for MF?!?! ?! !? $br# thmbsp$ frstplc trph:

I reflect on guys on my block that were bitten by the EF Bug used to.....
 

buy money orders (late 70's early 80's)for $3-6 and type a $3-5 infront of the number to increse the value and sent them to Tudor games for teams...it worked until they reviewed the MO and would send letters about the MO, by then they would have saved up the proper amount form their allowances ad or cleaning up hair at the local barber shops to give to their parents to cover the fee before the "Federal Charges:eek: " letter would arrive:rtfl: flg$ :rtfl: it was funny because they would have to go into the liquer store to purchase the MO, it did not become a major issue until they started using USPS MO.....aka tickets to the FEDs:eek: . I laugh now but we didnt know better at age 12-16:rolleyes: we just wanted teams and bases.

They would also order every team from Sears Catalog and back then sears would let you see your stuff......in a private room;) (I will not incriminate my friends and it is well over 20 years )but many empty boxes were left in the catalog section rooms....go figure:rolleyes:

I used to go into TOYS R' US and find the SuperBowl games broken into and missing the teams. it was so easy to steal the teams from those boxes. i was ALWAYS tempted, but i just couldnt do it. The thought of getting caught was scary and just wasnt worth it. but boy, did i want to.

anyway, to answer the question - "You know you are hooked when...."

i know i am hooked when i am trying to pass off this site as a teaching resource for an assignment in my graduate class tonight. i deal with behavior management in a middle school, so the other 2 websites will be of that nature. but the third site i had to find (relating to my job and classroom) will be this site as pertaining to my afterschool program. The jaw on my professor is going to drop when i introduce this one. this is going to be hysterical, trying to pull this off in class. :rtfl: wish me luck.:rtfl:

when I think about taking a day off from work (without telling the family --:chr: wife:chr: -- ofcourse) and catching up on all the MF projects I have going, then starting new ones.

when you have your priorities screwed-up and EF/MF always seem to come first.

I have been cracking up reading all of these post. Jeff, I know you invest a lot of money because i see you working on your team all the time. You inspire me a ton ,and don't even know. I'm just glad i decided to get in your league. It has changed my life for the best.
Now the rest of you are really what I wish I could recruit into our league. People who are serious about playing and loving this awesome game. Thanks for sharing.

are up at 2 and 3 oklock in the morning organizing your MF rooms, painting, building stadiums, and doing videos and then wake up 4 hours later to do the same thing over.

At that 3 am time, you see Biglock online and call him and he's wide awoke at work painting and decaling a team or see Shabby J writing post at that time or Joe Greco or Franny boy doing the same things.

You know you're crazy but you ask yourself, "What about them?":rtfl: :rtfl: lffng$ lffng$ :dohdh: :dohdh:

Interesting that so many of us have the same experiences.... Losing track of time painting a team on a work night, looking up at the clock and its 3:15 a.m.... :dohdh:

Telling your wife you are going to the game site (leaving her with a couple kids) for a "couple hours..." :dohdh:

Wanting to quit but just loving the game and enjoying the hobby AND the friends you make along the way....

When ya find a way to have a meaningful, heartfelt conversation with the wife..
 

..and as she is verbalizing her concerns, :D you must piece together her issues:eek: in between the "buzzz" of the tweaking board::D Funny thing you actually have her believing that you are listening and not concerned about tweaking at all!thmbsp$ thmbsp$ I'm hooked!!!! I will use my youngest (4 years old)to turn on the board as if i did'nt know it was plugged in to test tweaks after she caught me tweaking and I stated I would give her my "100% undivided attention":rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl: :rtfl:

How do you know you are hooked
 

1) When you see something cool on a MF website and now you want to totally re-do all your teams that way.

2) When you're trying to name your pet and all you come up with is "Tookie" (Lassiter), "Spike" (Diamond), "Punk" (Bartels), and "Chachi"

3) When you see an alternate uniform on TV and the first thing you do is try to visualize that on an EF figure

4) When you spend way more than you should (or your wife knows about) on this hobby..well said Jeff

5) When you drive past a garage sale and the only thing you're looking for outside is an EF board

6) When you try to explain to your wife that it isn't just MF stuff you want for a present, it is this certain type of painted figure, etc...

Been there, done that.

I knew I was hooked after I painted my first two teams, started constructing a stadium, worrying about field dress and what materials to use while running back and forth between the hobby shops and wal-mart....and I haven't even played a game yet:dohdh:

when your friends bring there kids over and you keep checking on your players every 2 - 3 minutes to make sure they dont touch them. I had a friend over once and when her son walked into the living room with a player I almost lost it!:fghttt: She was like whats the big deal, its just a little figure. Now she dont come over anymore......:)
