WR AND TE RELEASE UPON REQUEST QUESTION

When a coach ask for his receivers to be released, does this include the TE also. If i remember, i think you told me a coach asked for his TE to be released on a specific play. so, can you ask for a TE release and NOT the WR'S. lets say i wanted to run a halfback pass play on the right side of the field with the TE on that side running an up and out or fade if it's available. The wr on that side will occupy the DB giving the TE room to make his moves. (maybe slant the receiver back towards the line and hope the DB follows on the 2cnd stop). What are the specific's on this.

Receivers are let go every time, but the TE is an option, they could be blocking and thus the coach must let the defense know.
