It should not take that much to base up a team

It's very frustrating when you hear guys say "Oh, it's gonna take me some time to create this team and run the bases." I know guys egos are so big that they don't want to lose but when you are in it not just to win, that should not matter. Granted, no one likes to lose but the reality is that if you know what you are doing, you can create a team in a matter of 4 hours or less.

Three weeks ago, the SWC started its season. Coming into the game, I had not even had a team ready to play. I just like to act like I've got the teams prepared as I try to hype the game and get people enthused about playing. In my first game against "Rookie" and his Texas Tech Red Raiders, I had no sleep as I rode to Austin that evening, reffed a game, went to sleep for about 2 hours, and got up and base up a team that had nothing on them in 2 hours.

By game time, I was exhausted but felt an obligation to play games and wanted to. One of my opponents did not want to play, which frustrated me in driving 4 hours, and the other one, Rookie, later admitted he was in no rush to play the game but felt he had an obligation to play me because of the drive. Well, Rookie won the game as he played brilliantly.

I walked away with my thoughts about why do people do that, not play games when given the opportunity. It frustrated me because if one of the purposes of the game is to interact and have fun, are we putting our own self-serving interest of wanting to win over just the camaraderie?

Now I am faced with a similar situation with Notre Dame. Iowa was by all account, railroaded into playing the game and played admirably. Iowa coach, Ernest Claiborne, in turn set up a game between the Fighting Irish and Volunteers for this weekend. Many people want to watch the game. Unfortunately, the game will not happen. I can't understand why as it takes just a few hours to put a competitive team on the field.

I am just wondering do others feel this way or am I a lone wolf. Granted, by some accounts, I am not a great player so it should not be even worth not getting ready for and getting a win off me. But for me, I just want to play the games and finish the season without rushing at the end.

Do you experience this?

I don't think it takes that long to get a team ready if you are just switching bases and painting up a few members of your team.

I have talked to RD many times about what he is doing with his ND team and in defense of him he has been working late at work and gets home around 8:00 to 9:00 . I dont think he is just taking bases from the Raiders and switch them over he is rebaseing a new team of Fighting Irish and painting alot of players.

I think he deserves some more time to perpare his team. He had plained on not playing until after our game . I hope you don't make a big deal out of him playing this weekend since there are other teams to play that are ready today.

You guys are right down the road from each other and can play any weekend in the near future , the hard game for you to play will b ethe S.A> guys because of travel and RJ .

In good time that game will be played

Good luck

PS :
Why dont you ride to Valley Mills and ride with me to Austin sat. then Me, you and Mike can drive to SA sun morning ???

I am thinking about it

I am thinking about it although my wife may be a little TO'ed because it's San Antonio and she was not too happy with me getting one game in on my last ride south.

I won't even speak of that game anymore. I may see if Earnest want to schedule his other game with me since he will be home for that game and his team has 5 years plus experience.

Not Enough Time

If one has nothing else to do, yes a team can be put together in a matter of hours. As an example, I am working on a new video. I haven’t begun shooting yet because of the number of teams that have to be painted. I started preparing for the video back in January of this year. Because of work, chores, working out, school, personal pet peeves, and family time, I have only 7 teams painted. I intend to paint 5 more teams then I will begin shooting. I have to have all of those teams to support the video. I am grinding to make each of them. Reggie your enthusiasm is tremendous but, I refuse to lose sleep over this hobby. Don’t take it wrong. I just want to keep things in their proper perspectives.

In regards to winning and losing, I consider myself a balanced person in that area. I do all that I can to increase my chances of winning at the same time I am not overwhelmed by winning. I can move beyond losing. I take it like a man and keep it moving. Like I said, I don’t lose sleep over this hobby. Some people are overly possessed about winning to such a point that they resent the fact that they were beaten by someone. Believe it or not, some people take losing so badly that they literally flee from any situation that appears to be competitive.

1 hour and a half

It took me to build the team that went to this years miggle superbowl that lost to jim in overtime, so I agree Reg, it don't take long at all.

P.S. Right after miggles dinner, I sold my power team and built a fast team with alittle strengh, WISH THAT RIGHT CB WAS ABIT MORE STRONGER THOUGH (smile).

2 weeks ago me and jim took 2 of my UNTWEAKED college teams of 22, we set the clock to 45 minutes, I was done with the whole team in roughly 37 minutes, we both built complete teams and played a game, it was ALOT of fun.

P.S. If we would have bulked them up to 4.0 they could easly have played against any CBSMF team.

But norbert

Most people are not super heros like you and Jimthmbsp$ thmbsp$

DO I SMELL....

BLOOD IN RAIDERNATION? DO I SEE A LITTLE YELLOW STREAK GOING DOWN YOUR BACK..... COME ON RD GET IN WHERE YOU FIT IN....

Doug...

excuse me if I may...can you let RD speak for RD? PLEASE!!! I'm starting to think you are still in "Raider Nation!" :nhnh: :rtfl:

I really do hope that RD is working on his squad and getting them ready for play. Its just that most people do get caught up on winning and in the rankings that they would much rather play what they consider to be the "loose end" of their schedule first to build up some wins and momentum. Also, Doug RD must understand that when you join a league shortly after the season kicks off that there will be a sense of urgency to get the games played. Especially, when goin in you know that you have joined a league with a short season. We only have 5 weekends left in the season. The conference Championships all have to be played by the weekend of July 24th. We have selection show Sunday on the 26th. Canton is 2 weeks after that. That is not a lot of time. 5 weekends, with one being the conference championship weekend and we have the Oklahoma trip and another Gameday with all the teams that need to be scheduled. Very tough to accomplish my friend but we'll see!
