SOLITAIRE ROCKS!!!!!!

Yo Fellas,

If you have not tried it, you just might want to give it a shot. A lot of you may not know this, but before I hooked-up with the EF community, I played solitaire with by boy, Anthony Hough. I played with all 32 NFL teams. I believe we only played a 3 or 4 for game regular season schedule with each team. Among many other things that were happening in my life, this was the final piece to the puzzle that I had to finish before joining a league and traveling in the EF community. My solitaire season concluded in Jan/Feb of 2003. Once that finished, I decided to participate in the hobby. In February 2003, I attended my first tourney and it’s been on ever since.

I know this might sound a little strange, but lately, I’ve felt like I have not been getting enough of the EF experience. So, I just started tweaking bases. After tweaking base after base after base after base, the light bulb went off. Guess what? You know it... Solitaire. Since I did not want the bases to go to waist and I wanted to see how they would all perform, I decided to base up a few of the teams I have remaining.

My solitaire season consists of 5 teams. I know this will sound strange to a lot of you, but you have to know me to understand and even then you may know really understand. Anyway, 4 of the 5 teams are a mix of two different teams. Example: one team consists of the Jaguars in all black on offense and the Bills in all white on defense. My rules are simple. I have included just a little dice action, FOB and ABC, one timed stoppage, etc…

I am sharing all of this with guys because after I started playing, recording stats and analyzing talent from the different teams, something just came over me that’s hard to explain. I will not go into to details because I might get all mushy and what not. But, I tell you, to some it all up, doing this appears to be very therapeutic. Already, I have a renewed passion and interest for the game. This stuff is great!

I LOVE this - - - - game!!!drl$$

It can be a great tool for many things, including being great therapy. It has some sort of reward (for your work applied) factor involved. It also helps develop your coaching skills for the game. Having to base up and coach different teams w/different skill sets can make you a more diverse coach in the long run. Even for the coach that frequently plays out, it can be a good way to solidify your core skills - quick setups, diversified play calling, passing skills, adjusting on the fly, etc.

Like many of the finer things in life, Solitaire is highly under rated and under appreciated.

Norbert,

Thanks for the information the other day on how you plan to run your solitaire league. I did not think I would incorporate a timed stoppage or dice, but after our convo. , I had to try it.

Thanks Homez!

I only wish I had the patience to record the games as you will. Now that would be totally awesome dude!

Solitaire Rocks.

Great post Adrian. Solitaire is the way I played as a kid and when I began playing again as an adult. It allows you to play the way you want to play with the teams that you want to play with. What I like most about it is the fact that I can recreate the teams from my childhood or recreate the WFL or the XFL and play using the rules that made them unique. I am currently working on creating a solitaire league with CFL teams and playing by CFL rules. If only I can find a CFL gameboard. Will probably have to make my own or get someone to make me a CFL field cover.

Nice website, impressive collection!!! I remember some of this from your website back in the 90's. Where do you hide this stuff? I don't remember seeing it at your house?
