Hey al,

Did you say an ideal field size for these miniatures would be

1) 50 inches wide

2) 100 inches long.

Is this based on the players height and width.

I think im on to something in making a portable scale size board.

Im looking at having each yard 1 INCH. so a team must go almost the length of an 12 inch ruler to get a first down.

I dont want anymore traffic jams on small boards so the offensive line will be split 3 inches per lineman. I want the linebackers to shoot the gaps without being traffic jammed. I want coaches to learn how to cross block, zone block, trap block. I wanyt the ofensive lineman to learn how to pick up blocks and know who to block when there is no one in front of them. I want the running backing to learn how to pick up blitzing linebackers as the shoot through the gap. I want the offensive lineman to figure out if they should block the stunting tackle or the defensive end coming around the corner. I want offensive lineman to double team which would leave some unblocked and the running backs better know how to pick this up. I want to see a defense overload one side ans disrupt a offense. I WANT TO SEE PLAYERS MAKING INDIVIDUAL PLAYS IN OPEN SPACE INSTEAD OF EVERYONE MELTING TOGETHER THEN BUMP INTO ONE ANOTHER.


Those safties, db's, and linebackers better be fast to cover alot of ground. Here you must learn the law of angle tackling. if you turn a player a he just nicks part of an offensive players base, that's a broken tackle. When you angle tackle, the defensive players take a zeroing in angle for a flush hit. That's hard to do in wide open space. This space will allow wide receivers to enter a defensive zone and run there routes without a 5 oclock rush hour of players pooling around in 1 space. IT WILL BE FUN

I use 5 mm = 1 foot for all the MFCA stuff (15mm = 1 yard)
Jerry McGhee uses 1/2" = 1 yard

They are very close. The thread i linked to goes over it pretty well.

Andre, I don't remember saying 100 X 50. I always thought that if the standard football player was 6' tall, and the standard MF figure is 1 1/4", then that would mean that 1 yard would be appx. 5/8" ... or .625" So, considering that the standard football field is 120 yards long ( 100 yards with 2 - 10 yard end zones ) and 55 yards wide, then the scale board would be 75 inches long by 34 3/8 inches wide.

I use Jerry's scale for a big board. My board is 72 x 34 inches long.
