This is week 1 of the Playoffs
Coach Carter:
Euless Trinity, a team featured on ESPN beat a team 88-7 or something like that. Southlake Carroll, one of the legendary teams in the state, beat their opponent like 60-10. Coppell Cowboys won over Rowlett 33-12 or something to that effect. Skyline, ranked like 5th nationally had an easy first round. Cedar Hill, ranked 1st nationally had an easy first round. Arlington Bowie (my children's team) ranked 8th won 60-20 ? Mojo, the team featured in "Friday Night Lights" got off to a good start. Next week, we've got to go out to Mojo to play one of the big-time schools from El Paso. There are some great high school players coming out of the state of Texas. When I was in high school in Tennessee, we thought we could play the game and really did not know too much about Texas high school football. After being here for 25 years and assessing the competition level, it's just incredible. And the pagentry is over the top too. Next week, it really starts to get good. My wife, Rose is renting a bus so about 100 of us can go to Odessa Permian to play. There's nothing quite like Texas high school football! Reg |
Serious About The Game
In the movie entitled the "Express", Dennis Quaid said, "In Texas, football isn't just a sport; it's a religion". From what I have been told about Texas football from friends; football is taken seriously. Texas high school teams train at an extremely high level.

I heard that it isn't uncommon for a Texas High School football coach to get payed over $100,000... is this true?

Thank you
Thanks Reg...Someday I will have this stadium around my field and that someday will be in two years...I did not send my daughter to Ball State University to study Architecture for nothing!
We have already discussed one of her projects for her Junior year...she is going to build this sucker for me...complete with removable dome. She has already drawn up some plans for me...we are still working on the scale..but it is looking like I am going to need a 9'x 12' space just for the stadium... I will keep you posted... |
