What texture grass is it you use to place on the platforms of your players.
I like the oone that looks a lillte multi colored. (light green, dark green, tan)


gridiron painter, i like the grass on that chuck forem you customized.

5-13, how did you make you grass borders to surround a field ?

How do you keep the grass from flaking so it look natural. WHAT IS THE FINAL FINISH TO KEEP IT OIN PLACE ?

if it is glue, would thyat make it look glazy and matted. LOOKING TO DO A BORDER TO SURROUND THE FIELD.

Personaly I use some fine turf modelling flock. It is usually made of fine stained saw dust or fine cork.

I glue it with PVA glue on the base. Once it's dry, I fix it with some diluted PVA glue, then I paint it in green (vallejo "gobelin green").

Finally, I make a dry brush of bright yellow (vallejo "sunburst yellow") with a old brush to highlight the relief of the modelling flock.

Once everything is dry, I pass a coat of liquid mat varnish (vallejo) on the sides of the base, so the paint will stay in place when I'll play or manipulate the model.

It's my own preference. In the past I prefered the modelling flock used "as is", but this last years I prefer the 100% painted effect for bases (speaking of fantasy figures, etc...). Just a question of personal taste.



for gridiron figures, if we're thinking about the same figs, he's using static grass modelling flock. Easy to find in modelling shops or wargaming shops.


All the "advanced" technics and supplies we use come from modelling shops (model railroading, etc...) or wargaming shops (warhammer and stuff like that).

I tend to go with model railroad grass, usually 3 different variations for depth, and I finish it all off with static grass.

I first paint my surface green, for a nice grassy look, or brown, for a muddier look. I then paint on a layer of Elmer's glue, doing only sections at a time, and I sprinkle the grass onto the glued area, alternating between the 3 different types. Once the grass is all sprinkled on, I take a brush and tamp down the grass into the glue. You will lose some grass, and make a mess of your brush, but it is alright, the brush cleans up with water. After that dries, I spray scenic cement (watered down elmers glue) over top of the grass, and sprinkle static grass throughout the area. After the glue dries, I blow off the excess grass.
