40 Yard Dash -MFCA style
2 Attachment(s)
Using a rough estimate that 5 mm = 1 foot in EF scale I began a search for just the right material that would offer as little friction as possible but still have good strength and durability to create a real 40 yard dash (app 25 inches)
What I came up with came free from my local Lowes hardware store. The material shown is a rigid smooth plastic tube that window blinds come wrapped around. Lowes had a whole box of them and said take em'. They offer almost no resistance as a base rubs against them and are 18 mm wide and 6 mm high. I glued them together with superglue allthough there may be a better adhesive and created lanes 26 1/4 long (1 1/4 for base length) by just over 3/4 inch wide. The MFCA will be using these "raceways" for our skills competition regional events. They are very lightweigth and do not effect the board speed and can be layed on any wood, laminated or metal field that is at least 28" long x 13" wide. In my tests the raceway stayed right where it should without magnets or adhesives. Anyone that wants to offer input on the scale I used to determine the length of a 40 yard dash should speak now or this field will become a standard for the MFCA. I am very open to constructive comments and suggestions. |

1st round draft pic from dartmouth wins 100 yard dash
A Tailback from Dartmouth just ran the 100 dash on a bill porche board in * seconds, reports show that if the lanes were not grabbing the base, he could have broken the world record, LOL.

awesome job
Weirdwolf,
You did an outstanding job on the racetrack for the 40 yard dash! I can't wait to see what coach has the fastest man and the strongest man. I've always wondered what coach has the most talent and which bases are the fastest! We will find out at the Brawl! beenutt |
Great Job on that!!!

Will Travers made these out of cardboard 5 years ago for the every first Columbus Day Clash in D.C. Plastic, Great Job! Smitty |
There you go, way to brainstorm Lynn!
That's even better than the one you had in Salina last weekend. (which was still pretty cool) Great job! And nice pictures too.

To test true speed...
Wolf will you be using the old 620 boards or will you be using the lighting quick
#600 board. Red and navy blue endzones? On the East coast we call these boards tweak boards. I just curious. I want to ensure my domination in this competition/tournament. Bow your heads! |
