help needed from the pros

Hi,

Continuing my french miniature football crusade :D I plan to write a new article for MFCA.org website.

My plan is to offer to french newcomers who does not know football (coming from wargames or classic miniatures hobbies, for example) a simple to understand basic playbook, easy to setup with basic material coming with their new game.

What I need, is that experienced MF players share simple strategies for beginners, lets say 3 running games and 3 passing games, and about 3-5 all around defenses. Maybe a kickreturn and FG combination too.

All using a basic miggle or tudor figures setup, with rookie and ttc bases (since almost everybody starts with these figs).

The goal is to offer beginners first clues to play, and create their own strategies, with a simple PDF sheet they can print for example. It should be used for demos too (wargaming conventions, etc...)

You don't need to be a graphics artist, a simple scan of a paper draw, ugly Paint jpeg file, or whatever will be great. I'll redraw it on a nice printable file, then.

What I need is :

-players position

-players name (QB, C, G, etc...)

-Figure (miggle/tudor name) used for the position (blocker, tackle, etc...)

-base used for the athlete (ttc or rookie, tweaked for speed or strenght)

I believe that file could be created in english too, for totally beginners american enthusiasts also. I repeat, I don't want your secret playbooks used on big leagues or tournaments, just the basic stuff.

thanks ! thmbsp$

Dimitri. I hope you still have the same e-mail address as you did last year. I sent some forwarded e-mails that I sent to another coach several years ago that shows some basic defenses. Hope it helps!

the french guy 09-08-2010 06:42 AM

it will. Thanks ! thmbsp$ Just Remember that strategies will be shared to the community.

So don't blame me to reveal the secret weapons of the luttwaffe, for example :rtfl:

BTW I sent you a PM last week, concerning Tweak mag. Please give me an answer to see if I've got some time to add an article for my american friends too :D

edit : and don't forget to add figures and bases references. It will be a key point for the beginners (just positions is not enough revealant for a beginner).

edit 2 : I received the files thmbsp$ the pics are big enough to see what type of figs are used. I see that you're using (I remember we spoke about it) only rookie bases, but thinking about the positions I should find what base type should be used for.

thanks !

I will blog about it

Dimitri,

Since you are asking for basicly a "how to build your team" manual with details.....
wnnrcgr

I will do you a blog about it on the site in my column....

great ! It will be usefull for eveyone, and I certainly will translate it in french. thmbsp$

Al already sent me great pics and infos on basic defense play, I stills needs some basic offense (and special teams) schemes to build my own article for french noobs.

Of course I'm using my own O and D schemes, but I believe it's better than beginners take advantage of the american "pro" knowledge. I don't believe I'm a great MF coach for now, so... :rtfl:

here is an example

opening drive of the game....

offense line

- choose bases and figures to match your scheme for your offense. I like to 'power run' so my line has to drive-block the DLine all the way down field, not just for a few yards.....

o-line figures [ 1 PL Tackles; 2 BB CVR customs; one K-Lo Hybrid; 1 BBOL altered ]

formation: 1-back 3 wide set with strong side left....

Let's see if I understand...it's a running game, right ? :D the difficulty is to imagine how the game will move...if I understood correctly, the linemen will push the defense with the RB in the rear. The Te, and WRs are in position to spread the defense, especially on left so the right RB will encount less opposition. Am I right ?

that topic is funny. Because I recognize a scheme I actually play on my own games, except I don't know the scientific name of it :D

Personaly, when I play that scheme, my goal is to fake a pass intention, with no FB to drive the HB. I also try to put opponent defense attention on my TE, so my opponent will use some defenders on it. Then, I pray. :rtfl:

Why "strong side left" ? Because the offense line 's got 4 of the 7 players on left ?

thanks for the input. thmbsp$

3x5 Que Cards.......

I us a play book of 18 individual play's for newcomers'.

* For Special Teams: Each of my 12 teams have there own Que Card of 5 Special Teams Set ups before the ball is in play.
Circles are drawn on the Que Card in the proper possitions, then, the player's number right above the cirlce to show who that player's possition is.

* For Offensive " Running " Plays:
* For Offensive " Passing Plays:
* For Defensive coverages:
Are all done the same way.... It's so much faster for a newcomer to figure out how to play with out the stressing who goes where.. try it...
I'll see if I can get a Pic on here sometime soon to show you how it looks.. $cch$

Exactly what I need. No need to reinvent the wheel. If you want, we can just put your cards online, PDF files for print. I can re-work them with graphics tools, and make a french version too. thmbsp$

I'm speaking about french beginners, but I believe it could be a tool for all beginners no matter their country.

Imagine MFCA on gaming/wargaming conventions : it would be a great demo tool to bring new people into MF !
