vince148 passing idea in rookie section.
hey vince,
i was looking at something like this also. Where you have thereceiver run his route. I PLAY STOPS SO THIS MAY BE DIFFERENT. The scenario i had was you did not have to use the ttqb. You simply get get behind the qb and throw the ball with your hand ( A TRUE PASS FROM YOU). IM A BIG ADVOCATE OF LETTING PEOPLE PASS IN THE MOST COMFORTABLE MANNER FOR THEM. When your comfortable, your more relaxed and having alot more fun during the game. Anyway, THIS IS PURELY THROWING WITH YOUR HANDS OR THE TTQB. 1) WHEN YOUR READY TO THROW, you say direct. meaning you are trying to hit the receiver directly. Either method, YOU MUST HIT HIM OR IT IS INCOMPLETE. 2)WHEN YOUR READY TO THROW, you say lead, meaning your are purposely trying to MISS that receiver AND PUTTING THE FOOTBALL IN THE AREA HE IS IN SO HE CAN BE TURNED TO RUN WHERE THE BALL HAS LANDED. ***it depends on the situation, a closer pass you may want to go with direct. But you may have a better chance saying lead WHEN HE IS DOWNFIELD AT A NICE DISTANCE AND HOPING THE FOOTBALL LANDS AS CLOSE TO HIM AS POSSIBLE. This way you do not have to depend on a direct hit. READ WHERE THE SAFTIES AND DB'S ARE and place the ball in the area your WR has the best chance to be anyone to it. In the pro set league, there are pratice sessions going on where kicking off with a magnetic football is taking place. This is so once the football hits the field, it does not move that much. You can kick the ball precisely where you want it. THE SAME CAN HOLD TRUE FOR THIS PASSING METHOD. THIS ELIMINATES USING STICKS. Using your hand to pass makes you the true throwing qb. A magnetic football will let you evaluate your skill level in placing the football in various areas. REMEMBER, THE DEFENSE CAN ADJUST TO THE FOOTBALL ALSO. So you may want to throw it over his head a bit and let him run and get it. The key is you knowing the exact direction all of your receivers run and leading them to that spot. ps/The most fun i had in electric football was when there was just a dot on the helmet and we really concentrated on hitting receivers throwing with our hands. mantaraydre |
Passing....
Dre,
You ought to hear Mike Pratts stories on this topic. He use to use this method in leagues he played in thru the years.Very interesting listen, but then Mike is always enjoyable to be around. One of the best guys in this hobby.Straight shooter and as honest as the day is long.Great guy.My privledge to call him a friend. Neat concept too. The coach actually throwing the "rock" himself"..........I can only imagine the "drama" that will come along with it though......And there will be some. You can count on that. Great Idea
I agree this way to pass is fun and simple. We also have used a choice to either use the TTQB or pass it yourself. I would like to think that the percentage was higher for coaches tossing it themselves.

yep, once we broke our ttqb's back in 74-75, we only threw with our hands. mostly we used spit balls, then we learned that the brown paper grocery bags worked goo. but one day we "discovered" aluminum foil...foil remained the preffered choice after that.

HANDS
COACHES,
i HONESTLY THINK IT IS A MORE PERSONAL COMPLETION THROWING IT YOURSELF. YOU FEEL LIKE THE QB. ONCE AGAIN, The TTQB is just the toy that came in the box. Only because tudor had to create something that would work in unison with there figures. I really could care less who can hit a pass with a TTQB. I want to see coaches passing the way they like. WHAT WOULD THE COMMUNITY HAVE DONE IF TUDOR NEVER MADE A TTQB ? WHY IS PASSING WITH ONES HAND OUTLAWED ? ONCE AGAIN, PERSONAL RESTRICTIONS WILL KILL THE HOBBY. Too many coaches have ways they like to do things. WHICH ALL MUST BE INCORPORATED. You cant just sit home and say i like this and hope 100% of the people follow along. mantaraydre ps/ i would love to hear pratts stories. |
Re:
We just make sure the Coach QB is behind the endzone of which their offense is facing. Not on the sides. And you have throw from behind where your QB is on the field.

spart i agree
sparticus,
Your right on the money. YOU MUST BE BEHIND THE QB IN BACK OF THE ENDZONE. Thats the real skill, dropping the football in in yourself. I dont think the coach has to position his hand close to the level of the players. The coach standing up str8 not leaning will result in a longer pass. It would have to drop in like a hail mary. But, in my estimation, that is the real skill hitting a small figure from that distance. After a while you do get the hang of it. Im glad to see others are interested in this topic mantaraydre |
fun idea

Just caught this thread. Have never considered throwing it myself. I'm for anything that makes the game fun.
