please dont take this negative, please.

when you guys start to detail, paint, repaint or create a team. if you are using classic, or older blackshoe factory figures, put up a post in the trade forum asking for newer, or less valuable figures for trade. in other words, these older blackshoe teams are NEVER gonna be made again, so we should , maybe , try to get them into the hands of people that may be looking for them. im not trying to be mean, or sound like a jerk, but , lets say for example, "bobby" wants to sculpt/paint whatever 11 players, and all he has is 11 hoglegs, he could offer them in trade for 11 of something newer, thus, saving a set of hoglegs for future collections/collectors.

this is just a suggestion, i am NOT the minifootball police...lol.

"old-school" figures....

Mark,
Not a bad idea to be quite honest.I can only
imagine how many of us have painted over
teams that would be collectors items today.
As a kid,I had no idea what was what as far
as the figures went so I had no problems at all
painting over a team.I wonder how many "treasures"
I ruined......LOL Kids will be kids,but hey,alot of
us never knew that the figures we were painting
over might be worth something one day.
I know back in 2000 I went to the Miggle Conv.
in Wash DC on Saturday for about 4-5 hrs.I took
all of my original teams ( 6-8) that I hadn't painted over and
sold them....dirt-cheap as I found out awhile later.
But I had no idea. The guys that bought them knew
though, you can bet your *** on that. I got-got,as they
say.No biggie.I was able to buy the rest of the new-
stamped helmet teams to complete my solitaire league
so I was happy.
Who would have thought that those little men with those
terrible paint jobs( they looked great back then) would be
collectors items today..........Not me........

thx Chris. i know what you mean, and yes, im guilty too. it just seems that the hogleg teams that people have duplicates of, should find a new owner in the younger coaches getting into the hobby. collecting isnt everyones thing, but it still is cool to have a few old original teams. maybe it wont work, but putting this post up may save a few teams from extinction, get them to someone who wants or needs them, and benefit the seller/trader to where he can get new modern stuff. ppls$ thmbsp$ ppls$

You make a good point and I am one that could be one that does this. not because I de-value the figures, but more of including classic figures on my current teams.thmbsp$ thmbsp$

All of the complete teams of yesteryear that are complete and intact are kept in a secure place and I do nothing with them. Spent plenty of ebay dollars to get them, some rare, some common, all black shores and originals haiti and very few 67's. From the first time I had a hogleg or black shoe player, I was mesmerized by the details of those figures. Love them! ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$ ppls$

So, I keep them active on the gridiron today. They are small compared to stuff today, but they are still very effective...remember they were the fathers and grand fathers of the players today.

If you every want to discuss getting some of the teams in my collection, send me a PM and we can talk about them........

Great idea

What a great idea. I hate to see all of those old teams painted as well.
Heck, I think that there are a lot of guys that would offer to trade for them.

mark robin 09-20-2010 11:03 PM

yeah guys, thats what i was getting at. just a venue, maybe in the for sale threads, if you just gotta paint some up, offer them for sale or trade first. who knows, you may get a few customs, some cool buzzball, FF dot com figs, miggle proline figs, heck, you never know what someone may want to trade.
