Are you using a weight limit Reggie?

Play Ball!!!

This is a superstar based league, where...

weight plays a big part in determining who are the stars and who are not. For 35 active players, they must weigh a combined weight of 155 grams. Now it does not matter which one I put the weight on. The only stipulation is that the weight limit is 155 grams.

So as you can imagine, an Alan Ameche, Lenny Moore, Bubba Smith, Big Daddy Lipscomb, and others would have significantly higher weights than others. The only problem is I have to manage these players play time because the league has game, weeks, and season ending injuries.

In a game earlier in the season, Jerry Rice got injured for 6 games. I had guys emailing me and other guys questioning why I had Rice in the game at a certain time. I love the fact that guys are getting into this, that I can inspire excitement, because trust me FrankB, as the winter comes, some of the competitive coaches will need something to do - like play solitaire. And when I play, I am having a ball!

I like a lot that idea.

It's like in wargames : you have (for example) 1000 points to build your army. You can pick 5 big monsters for 200pts each, or a big gobs squad, 50figs for 20pts each. It allows the player to make a very personal approach in his squad building.

It's also -I think- a good way to balance the game. If you're not a really good tweaker, you can build a very strong line...but you'll certainly have weakness on your back field. But you'll be able to defend and protect your QB, allowing you more options than having a weak team on a classic weight limit. Like in the real world. Even weak teams always stills have good elements.

Concerning football, you can build a strong line including a TE dedicated to protection, or big FB, or fast light weight TE and monster linemen, one big nose tackle and DT to stop power runs, etc, etc...

I think I'll try that weight system in my own rules soon (= when I'll fix my board :D ). Perhaps I'll experiment multiple weight limits (one for linemen, one for skills players, for example).
