Miami Hurricane Offense #s

Gents - Would like to number my Miami team that I just completed as an all-time greatest offense. Who would you have at each position and what number did they wear?

Thanks, Mike

I would go with Bernie Kosar #20 at QB. I would put Bernie ahead of Vinny Testaverde because he lead the Canes to there first National Championship back in 1983. Michael Irvin would be my WR. I think he wore #47. Jeremy Shockey would be my TE. I don't recall his number in college. I think the name of one of the RB's on the '83 Championship Team was Alonzo Highsmith. I also don't remember his number. You have posed an interesting question that might cause me to go to the library this week and actually get the names and numbers of players from some of the great Miami teams aka the U.

Canes #'s

Here some numbers for you bud:

#11 Dorsey (QB)
#28 Portis (RB)
#2 McGhee (RB)
#81 Winslow (TE)
#88 Shockey (TE)
#5 Johnson (WR)
#47 Irvin (WR)
#6 Moss (WR) (Santana)
#00 Otto (Center)
#64 Bibla (Guard)

That's off the top of my head. If you need more I can do some research for you.

Didn't Ted Hendricks go to Miami? I can't remember what his number would have been, though.

Ray Lewis did, as well, but I can't remember if he was 52 or 57 there.

You'd probably want to put Devin Hester there, as well, I think he went to Miami and perhaps wore #6.

Really definitive, aren't I? Not sure. :o :D

Yes "The Stork" Ted Hendricks did attend the U. but I don't know his number. Also Warren Sapp attended the U. but again I don't recall his number.

And of course I can't read, as he's only looking for offensive numbers. :(

He was only looking for the offensive numbers. BUT if you want those defensive numbers too.............

Sapp #76
Hendricks #89

For something completely different, I'monna try some offensive players.

#5 - Edgerrin James, RB
#87 - Reggie Wayne, WR
#3 - Frank Gore, RB

Thanks.....

Gents - thanks, I appreciate the numbers and the info. Exactly what I was looking for. Probably going to have to put Sapp and Ray Lewis on the team.

Raiderman - Don't know if you remember me or not? We met at the Miggle Super Bowl 2 years ago, the one won by Big Keith vs. Norbert. We met the first night and sat in the bar visiting for quite a while. I'm the guy from Bentonville, Arkansas.

Thanks again for the names and numbers gentlemen, apprecaite it.....Mike

There *used* to be a site that a fantastic all-time roster for Miami, but I wasn't able to find it when I looked up those numbers. UM has changed their web site since then, and it may be lost to the archives.

I'll look to see if I have any old UM media guides tonight when I get home from my writing days - that might help, too, though I doubt I kept it.
