I Want to Make Hand-warmers..Can Anyone Help?

I want to make hand-warmers for my quarterback. I thought of cutting up a Reggie figure platform, painting it, and making a decal for it, but I am wondering what other methods are out there that I may not have thought of.

Green Stuff

DM,
You could use green stuff that will work.

Hey Bill,
I've actually used some scrap that was left on Miggle figures. Sometimes there is a small looking "dowell" scrap piece that wasn't cut off. I used to save them. I'll see if I have any. They are the perfect size to put on the front of the QB.

Put out a post to everyone to be on the lookout for them.

Simple

I actually make my wristbands and towels using painted paper towels cut to size. Simply slap some paint on a paper towel - team color, of course - wait until it dries and cut it to size with a brand new razor - twice the size 'cause ya gotta fold it over to make the pocket . Slap on a logo or 2 and affix it to your QB's waist with a lil ModPodge as well as going over the entire hand warmer to lock in the paint. Wait a coupla hours and seal it with Gloss. :D

I have our pet gerbils who are extremely good seamstresses sew them for my figures. Very realistic and the dyed mouse fur that they use simulates the nylon almost exactly. :) :D

Or if you don't have gerbils...GREEN STUFF rules.

I thought of using a cut off heat-shrinking tube. i will start with that and as always report the results.

OOOOO OOOOO OOOOOOooooooo I know I know....strip the colored plastic casing off of electric wires. Rip open any old broken electronic device and start stripping wires. Press them flat a little and I bet you get perfect handwarmers.

Wow...a moment of inspiration. Think Tank material!!!

That's a great idea, and cheaper than having to buy gerbils.

I used wiring from an old tv set that I threw out to make hoses for model cars. Like short, black, thicker pieces for radiator hoses. Thinner orange wires worked for heater core hoses into the dash. Really thin black hoses worked for fuel lines on the frame.
I'm sure you could find a wiring harness of some kind somewhere with white wires that could be used for those elusive electric football player hand warmers.

Thx guys. I will do this, take pics and post them on my site when it's up.
Based on the last two responses, it seems that the heat-shrinking tubes painted and wired around the waist of the player will work best. I will see if a decal on the front of the hand-warmer is practical.

This is the kind of info the EF Community can use. Thx again one and all.

I found this picture of Brett Favre wearing the hand-warmers. After some research, the heat-shrink tubes are the way to go. Radio Shack sells then dirt-cheap and they come in multi-colors so you really don't need to paint them.

A decal on the front end should give this item a realistic look. Gotta make on for Eli Manning.

Thanks for all your help guys.
