The MPF System - Pass Simulation The Triple-Treat (TTQB). An EF player's Excalibur and the main weapon for moving the football between quarterback and receiver. Problem!! Many EF players young and old are terrified and confused on how to use it. In general the passing game, or lack there of was one of the original sources of disinterest and the abandonment of EF. In the new renaissance age many innovative persons with big brains have found ways to elevate this silly game into one that can rival chess in strategy and your favorite video game in fun. When the multi-stop (MPFL) system was designed it was realized that certain aspects of the passing game needed to be revamped and expanded to provide for multiple options and better simulation. Out of the ashes came the Pass Placement System. In MPFL, both the offense and defense are allowed to react and adjust during the play (see previous multi-stop system posts for more info). The ability to adjust a players during the play meant that passes were no longer limited to the receiver's position at the moment of the board-stoppage. With multi-stops the players move and counter-move to create opportunities as the play develops. Using and interchanging these two passing methods test the skill and intelligence of players during the game, adds to the pressure, and enhances the fun. |
Sticks
Nice graphic Decal Master!
I use the sticks and I also play the old school TTQB method. The sticks and the different variations of play they allow are a great way to introduce the game to new players. Many who played as kids and remember the TTQB as a useless figure, can now get back into the game. Pass simulation sticks are great. There are a lot of posts about this both here and on the Miggle board. Shabby J |
That is It
You hit the nail right on the head !!!
Understanding that the use of the TTQB was one, if not the main reason why the game went into the closet. The use of the TTQB was not playable, this was evident by the many other forms of passing. Thinking of the future and how to keep the game from going back into the closet I created the Pass Placement . Understanding that there are elements to the passing game that make the passing game what it is . Many focused on the ball moving through the air from the point of the QB, to hit a stand still target. While this was good for it's time it lacked key elements. Receivers running a pass route, QB and receiver and QB reading the coverage, the QB leading the receiver to an open area of the field, and the receiver running to that spot, while allowing the defender a chance to make a play on the ball. It also dictates that you run a fuctional defense, SS's, DB's, LB's, all doing what they are disigned to do in order to defend thae pass. No longer stopping the board to complete a pass or to avoid a sack .This gave the advantage to the offensive team and made the game unbalanced . Pass Placement forces you to understand the game from both sides of the ball, and to understand the positions and what they do. Allowing for actual coaching to take place and relying on that, and not on cotroling the board, or how good one is by useing the TTBQ because one has nothing to do with the other. I am pleased that about 99.9% of all leages around the country use a form of Pass Placement , even if it's not in it's proper format .:D Quote:

Pass Placement is a setback for the hobby!
Mr. Burgess, although I value your opinions as I do all fellow efl members, I must say that I totally disagree with your assessment that the game was in jeopardy of going away. This hobby has progressed in so many ways with the new wave figures, face masks & chin straps, decals for more realistic looking teams allowing you to enter into a new era of the hobby as a painter of your own squads. How many eflers were painting their own squads before decal sheets were available? The hobby was actually growing! Pass placement was a setback! All it has done was give the efl community something else to argue about. It has crippled the the players who once thought about working hard to become better passers and has stunted their growth. Now if they wanted to attend a tournament where pass placement is not allowed then they forfeit the opportunity because they no longer feel competitive without the crutches of the sticks!
Pass placement from my experience has acted as a crutch for eflers whom fail to utilize or fail to be successful at utilizing the tools from the game meant for passing. Simulating a throw by placing sticks on the field does not simulate the talents of true passing QB. Pass placement allows everyone to be as equally talented as a QB when in reality the harder worker QB's are the players that prosper on the field. Anyone can use the TTQB if they just work at it. I'm a living witness. I grew up in the DC area where we used to use a balled up piece of aluminum foil as we passed from behind the QB tossing it with our hands. When I joined the DFWEFL league a little more than 10 years ago I stunk to high heaven but EFL became my getaway from the outside world. I practiced and eventually my hard work turned into several championships not just in my home league but in various tournaments across the country. I'm not saying that learning how to toss with the TTQB will make you a champion but it will be a huge accomplishment as you progress your way through the hobby. It's like playing madden on the playstation and going from the Varsity mode to the Heisman mode! You can now play with almost any coach in the country and match his skill set, it now becomes a matter of out coaching him/her! As for implementing the sticks as a way to pass with the board on...The truth of the matter is that it still has to stop to place the sticks on the field! You make the choice! Pass Placement or TTQB. If you can feel a sense of accomplishment by using the sticks as a means to pass the football the so be it! Imagine watching a game on t.v. and there is a QB in the pocket and he pretends to throw the ball and all of a sudden a ball just appears up the field and whomever races to it first gets the catch. How much talent is truly involved in that? It becomes more of a race on who's figures are faster than it does schemes and talent. I'm a do it yourself kind of guy and if you challenge me then I'm up to it! It took me a long time to become a good passer and I feel a sense of accomplishment. I'm great with the sticks! I've tried it but it's not exciting to me. The element and excitement of completing a huge pass wasn't there for me. Just my opinion! Good luck with whatever method you decide to play with! |
You're not getting it
Sorry, but you're wrong, please check you're PM.

Question
Please don't discriminate. If you have not played using the correct Pass Placement or have a true understanding on this subject, then it is best to learn about the subject befor you post.
What you see as a cruch other view as an option, bullet pass ( TTQB ) or lob pass ( Pass Placement ) . What is so wrong with that ? |

That may be true ?
That may be true, but you take away the defenders right to make a play on the ball, and that is the hole point, you tip things in you're favor with the use of that tool.
It's like playing with you're children, they are under 5 feet, you and a friend are over 5 feet 9 inches and your throwing the ball around. The child never will have the chance to pick the pass off due to the condition and that being hight. This is the case with the TTQB However if you play catch with guys of the same hight, they will be able to make a play on the ball beacuse the condition allow for it to take place. :D The TTQB gives the advantage to the user while restricting the players right to make a play on the ball.
