Hi Walt,

Got your message. Your teams should be done before Christmas (hopefully early enough to beat the holiday mailing rush).

I'll take a stab at the conferences in a bit - I love that kind of stuff.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

104 teams, for ease of scheduling, it probably makes sense to have the same number of teams in each conference. So ...

MOUNTAIN WEST

Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah, Wyoming.

PAC-8
Washington, Washington State, California, Oregon, Oregon State, Southern Cal, Stanford, UCLA.

USA EAST
Army, Central Florida, East Carolina, Marshall, Southern Miss, UAB, Appalachian State, Navy

BIG 8
Iowa State, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State.

WAC
Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State

MAC
Bowling Green, Miami-Ohio, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern.

BIG EAST
Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, West Virginia

MIDWEST 8
Illinois, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio State.

USA WEST
Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, UTEP, Tulane, TCU.

ACC
Clemson, Duke, Virginia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest

SEC

If you want to make all new conferences this is what I came up with. Like RooMorgans idea i put 8 teams in each conference

Great Lakes
Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Northern Illinois.

Bayou
Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UAB, Southern Miss. East Carolina.

Texas
Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, Rice, SMU.

Rocky Mountains
Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah, Utah State,

Tornado Alley
Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Iowa State,

Appalachian Mountains
Appalachian State, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Marshall, Furman

Dixie
Georgia, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Memphis, Wake Forest.

West Coast
Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Idaho, Wyoming.

Western
UNLV, Nevada, New Mexico State, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, Tulsa, LSU,

California
California, Southern Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Hawaii.

Midwest
Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State, Cincinnati. Miami-Ohio, Toledo, Bowling Green, Penn State.

Southeast
Florida, Florida State, Miami-Fla. Duke, Central Florida, South Florida, Louisville, Kentucky.

Northeast
Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, Maryland, Connecticut, Army, Navy.

Your schedule could consist of every team playing 3 other teams in there conference plus one non conference game. Your schedule setup could look like this:

Example
Great Lakes Conference
Division A: Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin.
Division B: Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Northern Illinois.

Every team in division A would play one another and the same for divison B. The top teams in each division would play for the conference championship. That would give your teams a 4 game schedule and a possible 5th game if they make there conference championship. That way it will stay similar to your original setup you had. At the end of your season, your 13 conference winners plus the next top 19 teams could play in a 32 team tournament at the end of the season.

Hope this helps
