Lemme Guess

1. Kickoffs are free kicks.
2. Safety kicks are free, whether by punt, drop kick or placekick minus the tee.
3. Don't know if there is a 3rd unless it's mentioned in my #2. Or is it a free kick/field goal attempt after a fair catch. I've only heard the commentators propose this one, but I've never seen it.

There is a third but many will not know this, it is this:

A fair catch kick; It allows the receiving team, after a fair catch, to attempt a kick which scores three points, just like a field goal.

Part 2

...of my #3. I've only heard it said, never seen it though. :D

bigredtops 11-28-2007 12:54 PM

so how would that work?

Anthony D Burgess 11-28-2007 01:01 PM

I think

I have not seen it done so I can only guess

You punt the ball from you're 1 yard, it's a bad punt, thr receiving team fair catches that punt at you're 35 yard line, then he punts the ball through the up rights for 3 points.

Like I said I have never seen it done so my answer is just a guess. There is more to the development of this type of play than I know.

Free catch

After the fair catch you can set-up for an uncontested kick at the goalposts. No snap - no linemen. You can even use the famed "drop kick" technique.
