Back To The Boiled Bases Again (weight Or Flash)

Coaches,

Quick question, when someone boils a base, is it to remove flash and or to add weight. If a coach boils a base solely to remove the flash from the prongs, why are the outlawed ? I know leagues dont like boiled bases mixed with some sort of oil to add weight, but why the turmoil if there only removing flash.

When I boiled bases it was for the specific purpose to make them stronger .

Intent Is Twofold

  • If ALL you wanna do is remove the flash, then a lighter is ALL you need.
  • IF you wanna add weight, strength and speed, then you boil with baby oil.

I don't think there's any two ways about it. I do know that the boiled bases I used in L.A. a few years ago don't hold up to the bases I've tweaked as of late, so now there is no need for me to ever boil again and I get to use ff.coms without cutting my fingers off trying to make weight!!!

Just my $.02. ;)

Now that statement above was some funny ----!!

I don't think I will ever boil again after tweaking these non-boiled bases. So much easier and less mess!!

And...

...better results!!! Those boilers were U-G-L-Y!!! Worse than that, some guys looked like they were playing with Pigmy Warriors (teeny weeny figures) surfing on candy bars because they had to make weight!?! rtfl$ lffng$ rtfl$

Those bases Earl "The Pearl" traded me lost their power after the LOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG drive back to Chicago. I put them on the board to show the guys here and they left a trail of baby powder on my board! ***Get it? After the baby oil dried up it turned into baby powder? Hahahaha.

Anyhooo, I'd rather just smash and flash and get on the board. I don't have time to saute` and wash and dry and freeze and tweak and coat with powder and soak and wait for the passing of Halley's Comet and all that jazz!?!

Let's just play, dagummit! Make all the guys run smooth and get 'er done.

Enough of my ranting. Peace.

I may have to do an experiment of my own. Has anyone ever weighed a base alone, no figure on it, then boiled it with an oil additive and weighed the same exact base again? How much weight is this adding. I can see boiling for the flash removal part and maybe to make the prongs more supple, but adding weight??? This puzzles me, not saying it's not true, but I would like to try this and break out the old jewelers scale and see the weight gain. I just can't imagine it being significant enough to make a difference.

Like I said, I have never boiled and I do not know, you guys seem to, though I am curious.

from what i have seen, it soaks up the baby oil. i recently obtained a couple of boiled bases, they were regular green ttc's, and they were larger and the side walls were thicker than a normal ttc.

I have some boiled bases that are nearly twice that size :D I will bring them on Tuesday.

Interesting

I have never boiled, but I may have to try it out.
