Stacking receivers... LSU did it, why can't we?
 

A few weeks back someone posted that they thought stacking of WR should be outlawed, because it is not realistic. I thought to myself, and may have even replied that Mississippi Valley State did it back in the 80s when Jerry Rice played for them. Also, I have seen it several times in the Pros as well as the college game. Last night LSU ran 4 WRs to one side, and a TE on the other. I think stacking WRs is good for EF.

I would call that quads, or trips (if they had 3)

Stacking in MF would be 1 WR right behind the other. I don't think that's what LSU did last night?
As long as everyone can do the same thing, it's all good!

I meant stack 2 WR, 1 behind the other.
The third or fourth WR could not be stacked behind the first 2, but they could be to the left or the right of them, as long as they're 5 yds. off the los.

LSU had four wide receivers in a tight diamond formation on one side of the field, so yes, one was right behind the other.

They also ran a formation on the next play with two tight ends, then two more right behind the tackles, a quarterback under center, and a single tailback.

It was very 1920s and it was beautiful.

...may be legal, but it becomes illegal and unrealistic in MF when they push each other. If they all zig-zagged and didn't touch each other...cool.

Actually, it really doesn't even matter anymore with the new ruleset we play by where the DBs gotta release the WRs after the snap. So, no need for the WRs to push thru double coverage, and no need to complain about it on D. thmbsp$

How about putting the stacked receiver on an imovable base for three seconds then throw him the ball. Change bases and let the play happen. My 2 cents.
