Tudor Model 500

How many of you have a vintage model 500 board? What do you mostly use it for playing or tweaking?

I was thinking of picking one up just for it's size to use in tweaking.

Anyone else doing this?

Bump

Same question... I have seen the Buzzball tweaking videos on Youtube, they have used 500 models, so they must vibrate well, right? I'm thinking of grabbing one, I have a good opportunity, and might play some 7 vs. 7 or something on it if it's a consistent board.

I have one I keep for display. It's not in mint condition, but it looks good. I keep it out of the light. The vibration on those boards is incredible because of its compact size and its thickness. The guage of the metal is not too thin. Therefore, the board doesn't sag in the middle.

i have a 500 board and it runs gr8..one of my best fields...but with that being said, since i run on mostly metal fields it works out good for me...but when i tweek players on that board then switch to say.. a vinyl field cover i notice a difference in performance. it might just be me..but try it and see what ya think

It's not just you youngfella, I will no longer tweak **my team** on a 500 board, the things just run to perfect, .........when you go to a tournament and end up on a slow board with a fieldcover your thinking to yourself, OMG,.........here we go again (smile),...........your weak guys are strong and your strong guys are weak, (white dials smashing PL's) (THATS JUST ONE OF THE DOWNFALLS) one time at a function I had to play my safties on the DL, I strongly suggest tweaking your team on a crappy board, you will atleast be happy when you play on a good running board.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I use a metal 500 because it runs perfect. I use lowest to highest settings to test my team's performance. Very low for a crappy board. Very high for a high performance board. It's really the surface of a field that determine it's performance. So, if a surface slows my team down or speeds others up then I have consistency. This way I may have to coach my team differently, yet still get the performance expected. It's mainly why I tend to be highly successful on the away board.

Many coaches complain about certain boards in our league. I don't because my teams are prepared to perform, more or less, anywhere. That what the "5 hundy" does for me.

My team sees my home field on game day and with a slight adjustment, based on the type of board, tilt, warp, whatever, then I coach them. I may say a field is crappy, but I never use it as a reason for a loss. Just my humble opinion. thmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$

Sounds like a plan. It was an Arena Football Executive (Bruce Berg) who gave me access to the Palace at Auburn Hills for recruiting in the Great Lakes early on. That stadium, as I have told you before, is awesome. We've had two Arena League teams. The Drive had the better unis and team so I will prolly look those guys up.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the fast replies everyone!ppls$ Seems to me that you can't really go wrong with a 500, as far as consistency goes! thmbsp$
