just a thought...the scoreboard
Has any one ever made or giving thought to a real mini scoreboard .
that .... 1.puts the teams name up above the score numbers 2.the numbers are digital.. 3.counts down the time with it being able to stop it at any time 4.lets you to reset the time 5.gives Quarter and down and distance 6.lights up I know there is the miggle set...and the old cardboard ones too.....BUT has anyone made a better one or thought of it...brian w |

i have thought of it. thought long and hard about it.

In Fact
i am still thinking......

still thinking because.....
I am not that mechanicley inclined to put something like that together. shoot, i cant even spell mechanicly. but i second your posting, i would love to see a scoreboard like that. who ever does it, please, make me the second to know.

Yep.... I've thought about it many times...
Even had one set up on the computer for NHFL type games, where the "time" is determined by plays.. but.. I never delved into Iterations (I think that's what they were called) to get the sheet to do what I wanted it to do.. I have a cousin who is "electronically inclined".. I should ask him |
Cheap It Would Not Be
I have actually gone shopping for ALL of the necessary parts and it would cost upwards of $300 to get a mini-version fully functional scoreboard. But I guess people spend that much on a field, why not a scoreboard, huh?

Scoreboard
The DFW league had them last weekend. They were approximately 4" x 8" and ran off of 3 AA batteries. I asked where they got them and they said Academy Sports. We have one here and I asked about them and they said they didnt carry them here. Maybe Reggie or someone else in the league can give us the name brand and an address maybe we can contact them to see if they are still available..thmbsp$ It had home and away score and a timer.

That was Rawling's HOT SCORE Basketball Scoreboard, Joel. We have a few here in the MWEFL as well, but, again it's a basketball clock. AND they don't make them anymore. :(
I'm talking about making a fully functioning FOOTBALL scoreboard with video board replays and interactive team names, scores and stats, just like the REAL thing. |
Sorry Jimbo,
Thats not even close to the one they were using. It was orange framed box around the timer in middle and home and away scores on each side. I'm pretty sure it wasnt a Rawlings. I was told it was less than $20.00. Joel |
I Could Make the Clock...
but time does not permit me to move forward on that project.
I always relate things back to my engineering days. I have the theoretical scoreboard right here at home in one of my engineering books that shows how to. I had looked at creating this at one time but time, money, and too many other pressing things put that on the backburner. If I had about a couple of months where I was doing nothing, I probably would have had it by now. My design did not include any type of Jumbotron or anything like that. It just included scoreboard change, time on the clock, down and distance. No added features were even available from a technological standpoint. Maybe when I go on vacation in a couple of weeks, I will sneak my book onboard and look at the schematics. Reginald |
