What is your favorite board and why? What is the fastest board you have ever seen? What is the biggest board you have ever seen? What is the overall best performing board you've ever seen? What is the worst board you've ever seen. Explain why you think or why it is.

I'll have to get back to you with some of my other answers, but I can hands down right now come out and say the worst performing board, I have experienced to date is Miggle's 620.

Getting back to you. Miggles Super Bowl board of a few years ago is OK, but it is NOISY, there are things to quiet it down and then it's pretty OK for a smaller board.

I have a vintage 620 from Tudor (early 1970's), it is really great.

My favorite as mentioned below too, is my vintage Chargers 308 from Reg Rutledge. I have seen and played on a Watts board as well as a Porche board, both great fields. The 308 is the one for me, based soley on the width of the field, it is wider and allows for some great running and passing action, plus playing at 3.3-4.0 weight it really makes for some excellent performing athletes.

I also have a vintage 510 from Tudor, a little green field I tweak and test on, another solid field.

If I were going to purchase a board starting out, I would buy one from a coach on this forum, that's the best way to guarantee you get a quality vinatge board. You can also score some nice vintage boards on Ebay, I have found some great fields on Ebay.

This is a great question and one I would like to weigh in on. I hope others can give their honest assessments too.

The Miggle 620 is NOT the same as the old Tudor 620s. They simply aren't as flat and are slower. My old superbowl filed is the smoothest metal field I've ever played on (but its tiny). For the money, the old Tudor 620 boards are probably the best starter boards if you can't spend over $100.

I really like my wood 308 board from FF.com, it opened my eyes to what a wider board does to opening up the game and also the speed at which this game can be played at. There are no "scrums" on this board. This board brings high energy impact and fast action, and I always enjoy playing on it with my son. This board is also durable and lightweight and one that I trust my 7 year old to keep it under his bed. In my opinion it is not as smooth as an old Tudor 620 but the higher peak vibrations is offset by good tweaking, excellent pro line base designs, and playing the 4.0 weight scale.

I also like most everything I've seen from the Watts metal boards to, but at this time I'm not sure if he's back around making them, I hope so because he does beautiful work.

I love my own custom board because, well, I made it. 24x48" metal field with field covers from Jimbo. I love it because I made it, tweaked it, and it is quiet and smooth. This size field is just beautiful and I'm really happy to have it running quietly because I like to mess around with it after the kids go to bed.

I have 3 favorites:

• My trusty SuperBowl board runs perfectly! I wish I could put it in a replicator and produce a billion of them!!!
  
• My 1st 620 was given to me by my big brother in the hobby, Edgar "Snoop Dog" Downs. It was the Rams vs. Cowboys game with blue endzones.
  
• Lastly, my custom-made Home Field Advantage is my favorite for all of the same reasons Joe stated about his: because I made it, I tweaked it and with my fieldcovers on it, there's no competition! thmbsp$

I set my 308 to run on 42, that is the setting number on the speed controller, I bump it up to 45 on occasion, much more than that and it gets too bouncy.

The "wood 308" he is referring to is the field itself, it is made from fiberboard, not metal like other fields, that's all he meant.

I just wipe my field down with a damp paper towel. If you have a 308 Reggie Rutledge can tell you how to take care of the field. I have never heard any more than that. There are some posts flying around about furniture polish, etc... on the field, but I will stay away from that.

I still love my 1970 Tudor 620 Superbowl with the Chiefs Vikings artwork. It runs great but it won't be long and I will be moving on to a 2 x 4 model as the bigger fields are just much more fun to play on. I plan on keeping all my 620's for when we do events with kids etc...

Overall, for production boards, the old 620's are the way to go. For small fields, any of the Miggle Superbowl and now Rose Bowl version work well.

Clarification
 

None of the 308s are metal, Michael. It was a slip to say "wood" as it implies there is also a field that is not wood. ALL 308s are fiberboard/wood.

Also to the people who have 308's. How come I will get the board set on the perfect vibration, and then it will go away the next time I come back or the next play. Do I need to switch the direction, or what.
