Who Will Win The 2009 Super Bowl

Greetings to all of my fellow coaches in MF. I hope that all of you are doing well.

The NFL 2008 Season is upon us and the question is who will walk away with the Lombardi Trophy this year. If recent history stays true to from the winner will come form the AFC. Before I give you my winner here are some things to look at from recent history regarding the Super Bowl champions.

The 2004 Steelers, 2005 Colts, 2006 Chargers, and 2007 Patriots have two things in common. 1) They were the top seeds from the AFC and 2) None of them won the Super Bowl.

In 2004 Peyton Manning broke the record for most TD passes in a season and won league MVP. In 2005 Shawn Alexander broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. In 2006 LaDainian Tomlinson broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. In 2007 Tom Brady broke the record for most TD's in a season and won league MVP. What do these players have in common. There teams did not win the Super Bowl.

The Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2006, the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2007, and the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2008. What do these teams have in common. They all played Wild Card weekend.

The Pats won the Super Bowl in 2005, the Steelers in 2006, the Colts in 2007, and the Giants in 2008. What do they have in common. There teams wore white jerseys when they won the Super Bowl.

Finally the Colts and Giants won the last two Super Bowls. What do they have in common. The MVP for the Colts and Giants had the last name Manning.

So who will win the 2009 Super Bowl. As I mentioned earlier if recent history holds true the winner will come from the AFC because the AFC team will wear white jerseys in the 2009 Super Bowl. The Steelers have a scheduled that is far TOO difficult to give them either a #1 or 2 seed in the playoffs. Then again it might be good for them looking at recent history. The Chargers have talent but the knees of Philip Rivers, LT, and Shawn Merrimam concern me. Yes that brings us down to the Colts and Pats again. I am not sure about the knees of Manning or Harrison and the foot Dwight Freeney and shoulder of Bob Sanders. That leaves the Pats and Brady's foot. I think he is healthy and think the Pats will win the 2009 Super Bowl. Who will they play. I am going out on a limb and say the Eagles. If an NFC team wins the 2009 Super Bowl it will be the Cowboys. Why ? The NFC gets to choose the jerseys for the 2009 Super Bowl and the Cowboys play better in there white jerseys. However, I don't like the Pats but think they will win the Super Bowl. Who do you pick ?
