position of RB for handoffs

I was checking the rules and couldn't find any mention of it. Does the ball carrier have to be in any certain relation to the QB for him to be the carrier? I noticed some rules say he has to be next to him or within a couple of yards. Suppose I have a guy in the slot and I want to run a reverse with him? What is the ruling for this?

NO
ther eis no rule that states that.

in mid-ohio, the rb must be within the tackles to automatically receive a handoff. anyone outside of this would need to take it as a pass, or motion a receiver within the tackle box before the play starts to make him eligible for a hand-off (end around).

This is the same in the DFW...

The RB must be inside the tackles and at least 2 yards back from the butt of any lineman to receive a handoff. Under our style of play a reverse is very difficult to do.
