Default Firsts?

I am creating a new page for the HOF section of the site which will be called "First Downs". It will list innovations and inventions in the game and who created the first one. I am not an expert and the list below is to the best of my knowledge and I could easily be wrong. I am hoping that some of the long time guys on here will help fill in the info. In some cases, things may have been created at the same time in different areas of the country before we knew about each other. We will do our best to recognize all who contributed. Please add other categories that I have not included.
Again, this list is just based on my knowledge or what I remember seeing first. I know this may create some controversy, but please handle yourselves appropriately and if their is a dispute, give some supporting facts to your claim as "first".
