Good debate folks and let me add something to it from both sides of the coin...
Road warriors level of commitment is truely greater because of all the things that go into being part of that league.
Cost - not so much league dues, but the cost of travel, hotel stay if you stay more than a day. Time costs also. Time off from work may be part of the equation if you expanded the window of time you would spend at a remote (non local) location.
In order to be a league member in good standings, that is the first hurdle you cross in order to play. If I choose to join your league, after the approval process, I am there for 3 reasons - not in any order - Freindship, Football, and to try and win the league title
Local coach sometimes feel like they are "less than" vs. THE-OUT-OF-TOWNERS that come to play. Then they start to waver when the loss count begins to increase.
Local coaches want you to "cort them" just like you do for the OOT coaches.
Local coaches want to be granted some leeway where the OOT coach would not dare to ask for that because it's hard for everyone.
