Let's remember that any rules we come up with will have to be enforced. I know from helping with the Bama Blast for 10 years, that time is a real issue. Most of our tournaments are played on weekends, and if a lot of guys show up, you are pushed to get your games in. Weighing in every team, and individual players takes a lot of time.
I think Anthony is onto something when he says the style of play needs to be addressed, but you have to consider the time to play those types of games.
K-lo mentioned that most guys don't kick and if they do it's an abbreviated version for the sake of saving time. Special teams is almost ignored in our hobby.
I'm not talking about league games, where time is not as much a factor, but I'm speaking of tournaments. These are the times when we all get together and the hobby is in all it's glory. If we are ever on TV, it will be a scaled down version of a football game. They won't give us the time to play to the detail that some guys are speaking of.
I also like the professional image issue that has be spoken of, but I know several guys that wouldn't buy that for a minute. They would just branch off and do their own thing as they always have. They like their teams just the way they are.
