I don't see why both aren't used. As long as you don't take 10 minutes to decide which, say you have to know in 10 seconds. There are tournaments exclusively for TTQ, but none for just Pass Simulation (to the best of my knowledge). In tournaments where Pass Simulation is allowed, so is TTQ. I like both, and it takes a good hand or blind luck
to get those bases to run straight.
