You said it best. “People are afraid to lose”. From my experience of dealing with certain coaches over the phone and by way of email, I have found some of them to be petty and insincere. Sometimes they can be just plain hateful.
I believe my rule set is the simplest in the hobby. They are the following:
Front of base tackling
No pivoting after the play begins
For field goals and extra points, run the board for 3 seconds to allow the rush an opportunity to block the kick
No stalling
I am shooting myself in the foot when I say this. “No boiled bases”.
This rule set can be used for any weight amount.
Ask a coach to play like that. Watch how fast he runs for the hills. He will break his neck to avoid you.
